William “Billy” C. Ashby, Jr., 72 of Woodbridge, Va., passed peacefully from his life on the afternoon of December 5, 2020 at Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center. He was surrounded by his wife and three children during the last days of his life.
Billy was born July 5, 1948 in Bronx, NY, a son of the late William Ashby & Lillian Lawson. He married Elaine S. Ashby on February 13, 1970 in Alexandria, Va. He retired from Metro Rail after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a veteran and served two tours in The Vietnam War while serving in the Army, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather brother and friend. Besides his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Robert B. Ashby, and Aunt, Sybil Martin; and beloved dogs, Mindy, Cuddles, and Patches; granddogs, Dakota, Jo-Jo and Molly.

A devoted husband, loving father, and a friend to all, died unexpectedly on November 30, 2020, at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge, VA. He enjoyed running, sports, reading, history, politics, and, most importantly, spending time with friends and family while watching his grandchildren develop into the fine young people they are today.
