LaVerna Lou Birtcil Selkregg, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 18, 2020. She was born to the late Harry and Minnie Birtcil  on April 18, 1933 in Sigel, Pennsylvania.

LaVerna retired from Alexandria Hospital, Intensive Care Nursery, as a Registered Nurse after 29 years of loving dedication to the hospital and her patients.  She was a Nurse in the true sense of the profession, so loving, caring and giving.  She touched so many hearts and souls in her lifetime and will be so dearly missed by all!


Sylvia May Knehans passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 20, 2020 at the age of 82.

Sylvia was born on May 8, 1938 in Arapahoe, Nebraska, the daughter of Julius Schabacker and Lydia Schabacker (née Baese). Her family then moved to Owensville, Missouri. She was an inquisitive and somewhat rebellious child who wanted to learn about the world and who was encouraged in her efforts by her music teacher mother. An altar girl as a child, she later became an atheist though she continued to appreciate religious art and literature. She married her high school boyfriend Al Knehans Jr. on September 13, 1958 in Rosebud, Missouri. She encouraged Al to join the military as a way to enable experiencing and learning about the world and the people in it.


Carl W. (Jake) Jacobson, 77, of Triangle, VA, passed away on December 20, 2020.

Carl was born in Chicago, IL to Rose Jacobson on December 27, 1942.  He married Jane Jacobson on July 22, 1962 in Washington, D.C.  He served in the Navy aboard the USS Forrestal.  He retired from Metro after 30 years.  After retiring from Metro he worked at the Fredericksburg Auto Auction, where he also retired.
