Susan Mary Genevieve Kane Burket, 86, of Woodbridge, Virginia, passed away on the 23rd of April 2021.
Susan was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts on January 24th, 1935. She married David Burket Jr. on January 26th, 1952 in Fort Devens, Massachusetts. She was a devoted wife and mother of three sons, David, Dennis, and Douglas. She always put her family first and as a military wife moved her family to the Philippines, North Carolina, Panama, and Turkey before settling in Northern Virginia. She enjoyed pursuing her artistic talents, gardening, searching for antiques and collectibles at flea markets and roadside shops. She loved travelling with her travels taking her to the Holy Land, Greece, Canada, France, Italy as well as many states of the union.
Donna Gail "Cash" Tubbs, 60, of Lorton, VA died April 27, 2021 at Mt. Vernon Hospital.
She was a holiday lover; everyone enjoyed the many decorations she brought out each season. Her life’s focus was her family especially her grandchildren. Anyone that remembers Donna knew that she was always one to dance, loved going out on the boat, spending time in Ocean City, MD and of course, Dr. Pepper.
Samantha Brown, age 30, of Triangle, VA passed away on 24 April 2021. Sam fought an epic battle with colon cancer for almost 2 years, inspiring friends and family with her intense level of bravery and steadfast determination.
Fondly nicknamed “Buddha” as an infant, Sam was born on June 5, 1990 in Woodbridge, VA to parents Scott G. Brown and Dale K. Linder. She was raised in Woodbridge and Burke, VA and graduated from Lake Braddock Secondary School. Sam, with her sparkling eyes and witty humor, was forever a kid at heart. She loved everything related to Christmas: cheesy Hallmark movies, singing Christmas carols, and visiting Santa at the mall. While cuddling with her dog Peanut Butter and sipping Cherry Dr. Pepper, Sam thoroughly enjoyed watching movies – her favorites being anything to do with Adam Sandler, as well as all Disney and Harry Potter movies. Sam also loved the beach and every single dog.

Gloria Ann Ortiz transcended this life on April 16, 2021 at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA.
Butch ran Hampton’s Landing for over 30 years He was also very talented and could custom paint boats and cars, besides working on their engines. For a short time he drag raced a pickle-Fork Hyroplane. Later in life he moved to Staniel Cay, Bahamas, where he lived for over 25 years.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Ashlie Gay Hampton-Gardner, his son-in-law Todd Gardner, and one grandson, John Hampton. He left his niece, Carla and three nephews, David, and Brian Ennis, plus Donald Shifflet. He left many family and friends in Rescue, VA.
Ronald Lee Nungesser, 84, of Woodbridge, VA passed away on April 5, 2021.
Ron, was born to Orville and Fran Nungesser of Bloomsburg, PA. He graduated from Bloomsburg high school, class of 1954. He married Patricia Price Nungesser of Princeton, WV in Falls Church, VA, October 1957. Ron was a veteran the US Air Force and was awarded numerous medals. He retired as a civilian Information Systems Specialist for U.S. Department of Army in Fort Belvoir in 1988. He was involved in many senior social groups including the Fun Bunch which took them on many adventures up and down the east coast. Ron also loved to play golf, was an avid collector and had a passion for genealogy. Ron loved to work with his hands; always busy doing something, either rebuilding cars with his sons or remodeling he and Patty’s home. He will be greatly missed.
