Charlie Lynn Wells, 99, of Manassas, passed away on Friday, January 24th, 2014 at his residence. Born in Clifton, VA, he was the son of the late John H. and Addie Croson Wells.

Mr. Wells had been an employee of Peebles Department Store for many years until his retirement.


Kathryn Ruth Sims of Manassas, VA passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the age of 68. Kay was born on August 3, 1945 to the late Geraldine and Robert S. Sommers of Smithfield, VA. She grew up in Newport News, VA.

Kay was a devoted wife and mother. She made family and friends a priority. She invested much of herself in maintaining relationships and never lost a friend. She had a passion for animals, celebrating Christmas, making crafts, collecting her “treasures” such as hummingbird figurines, participating in her neighborhood garden club, and football – particularly her Washington Redskins. As a giving soul, she also actively engaged in the hobbies and interests of her family. She traveled around the world with her husband and friends, worked on hosting sporting car events with her son, and attended many antique car events with her mother and father.


Glen Franklin Snead, age 81, of Manassas, Virginia died at home Sunday, January 19, 2014 due to complications from ALS.

Born on December 5, 1932 in Staunton, Virginia, where he spent most of his childhood, he was the youngest son of Reba Hahn and Joseph Snead. Glen moved to Manassas in 1956 and worked at Manassas Frozen Food and J.E. Rice before retiring from Dulles Airport in 1997. Glen was a long time member of the Manassas Host Lions Club and the Manassas Men’s Club.


Christy Elaine Brown passed away peacefully on Thursday January 16, 2014.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Dewayne Brown, two children Kendall Marie and Cameron Isiaih, four siblings Rebecca Carr (Lee), Deborah Carr (Taft), Donald Carr II (Amanda) and Jerrod Carr (Rhonda) and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.


Cleon “Clink” A. Cole Sr., 83, of Catlett, VA passed away peacefully on January 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Clink was born July 12, 1930 in Vermont, son of Evelyn Cole. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, going to yard sales, traveling, camping and skating. In 1955, he met Florence Elizabeth Cohen at a roller skating rink and they were married 6 months later on November 7, 1955 at a Baptist Church in MD. Together they have lived in Alexandria, Arlington, Manassas Park, and Manassas and settled in Catlett, VA.

Clink was in the Army for 4 years. After he got out of the Army he worked for Perrin and Martin Sheet Metal then continued working with sheet metal with VA Heating and Air, Hensley and Associates and TLC Heating and Air. Clink was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved being around his family and his puppies; he always had a puppy in his arms. His sense of humor will long be remembered.


Joseph James Woods, 79, of Woodbridge, VA. died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 29, 2014.

Joe was born June 27, 1934 to the late Joseph George and Mary R. Woods in Arlington, MA. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars giving 23 years to his country in the U.S. Air Force. During this time, he was appointed to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and was awarded several citations including the Bronze Star for meritorious service. After his military retirement, Joe worked for 23 years as a Supervisor for Northern Virginia Community College. He received an Emeritus Award after retirement from NOVA in 2003. Joe was a loving husband, devoted father, and grandfather. He enjoyed stamp & coin collecting and civil war relic hunting.

Loving mother of Georgia Herrell (Marvin); Lucille Dodson (Richard Minter); Russell D. Rison (Rosemary); Mitchell P. Rison ; and Teny Cahill (Bobby). Cherished grandmother of 22. Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother to many. The family will receive friends at the MOUNTCASTLE TURCH FUNERAL HOME, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA 22193 on Sunday, February 1, 2014 from 1 to 5 PM, where services will be held on Monday at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Dumfries Cemetery.
