In the early morning hours of March 24, 2014, Irene passed away peacefully of natural causes at home. She was 97 years old. Irene was a long time resident of Triangle and most recently of Fredericksburg VA.
Irene Tierney was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, on April 15, 1916. She was the eldest of four children of John and Anna Fedor.
Richard N. Carper, 88 of Woodbridge Virginia died on Monday March 31, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Hazel D. Carper, daughter Patricia A. Weber, sons Clayton N. Carper, Andrew A. Carper, Jonathan W. Carper, 6 Grandchildren Lisa Yates, Julie Jackson, Meredith Brunkel, Stephanie Carper-Hansen, Steven A. Carper, Morgan A. Carper, 12 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his 11 siblings.
Richard was born July 21, 1925 in Kernersville North Carolina then moved to Winston Salem where he spent most of his childhood. He graduated from John W. Hanes High School before attending St. Bonaventure College in Orlean New York. Richard then enlisted in the US Army from 1941-1945 serving in WWII. He moved to Woodbridge in 1962 and began working for Safeway where he worked for 36 years before retiring in 1991. Richard was very active in the community, volunteering his time at the Woodbridge Little League and Sports Club, the Boosters for Woodbridge Senior High School and was a member of the American Legion.
Maria (Mer) Elena Alexander, 58, of Woodbridge Va., passed away March 30, 2014. Maria was born on June 1, 1955 in Nyack, NY to the late Rafael A. Velez Sr. and the late Claudette Parker Velez.
Maria loved to travel, cook, bake and read, most of all she loved her family. Maria touched many lives and was loved by many; her smile would light up a room.
Waltraud “Marie” Lope, age 78, of Lake Ridge, VA, passed away on March 30, 2014. Beloved wife of 21 years to Ernest Lope who passed in 1993. Loving mother of Charles Miner (Stacy), Howard Miner, Tina Garner (Darrell), and Ernie Lope, Jr,. Cherished grandmother of Kyle Miner, Jesse Miner and Nicholas Weappa. Dear sister of Edith Schmidt (Peter) She was predeceased by an infant daughter Angelika Miner.

Narcisa A. Price, age 76. Of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on March 29, 2014. Beloved wife of 18 years to Edwin CMV Price, Sr. Loving mother of Gerald Sol Cruz (Jennifer). Cherished grandmother of Geraldine, Jennielyne and Emmanuel Sol Cruz. Dear sister of Mario Amihan, Bobot Amihan, Esperanza Capati and Gloria Amihan.
Doris C. Deese, 83, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away March 27, 2014. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Sarraga (Jerry) and Donna Antolick (Carl); son, John Deese (Meghan); 4 grandchildren, Diana, Brian, Stephanie, and Carl; and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of family and friends including her loving caregiver Diana Gyasa. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge. Interment will be private.
On Friday, March 28, Joetta O’Neill, 83, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She had been residing with her son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Lisa O’Neill, in Tall Timbers, Maryland.
Joetta was born February 14, 2013 in Accotink, VA to Norris Allen Dawson and Virginia Mae (Harrison) Dawson. She was a caring and supportive mother who loved music, family and friends. Joetta graduated from Mount Vernon High School before marrying and beginning her family. She lived her life in Lorton, VA and worked as an executive secretary until her retirement at age 74. In addition, she devoted over 30 years as the organist for Cranford United Methodist Church in Lorton, VA. She enjoyed membership in the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she excelled in becoming district president. Her accomplishments beyond being a dependable friend and loving mother are too numerous to mention. She is survived by two brothers, Ronald Dawson of Chesapeake, VA and Allen (Joyce) Dawson of Great Falls, VA and her children, Gary (Lisa) O’Neill of Tall Timbers, MD; Shawn (Liz) O’Neill of Titusville, FL; Andrea Tucker (Daryl) of Cocoa Beach, FL, Nancy (Brian) Ross of Fredericksburg; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild due any day. Joetta’s friendship, spirit and joy will be missed by many. A service to celebrate her life will be held on April 3, 2014 with viewing from 10-11am and services to follow in Cranford United Methodist Church, 9912 Old Colchester Road, Lorton, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Gregory Steven Hall, age 24, of Dale City, VA, passed away suddenly on March 23, 2014. Beloved son of Lesa Donahue Hall and Gregory Stephen Hall. Loving father of Ethan Tomas Hall and Ethan’s mother Stephanie Williams survives; and Austin Hall and Austin’s mother Jessica survives. Dear brother of Meaghan Tobin (Jesse). Cherished grandson of Zanie Lee Donahue-Wolle (William D.) and Jerry Donahue (Patricia). Adored Nephew of Jerry Donahue, Jr. (Karelyn). Also loved by his cousins Jackson Donahue and Ashley Morris.
Gregory was only with us for a short time on this earth. His life was full of both sadness and joy, and he is now in God’s Care, where his eternal life will be in a better place. His heart was big, but not big enough to handle today’s world. He leaves behind many loved ones and family. He will always remain in our hearts and prayers until we all meet again in the next life.
