WILLIE LEE DAVIS, 85, of Manassas, Virginia passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on January 10, 1929 in Mayersville, Mississippi the son of the late Charles and Ruby (Gilleson) Davis. He was a retired painter at Quantico Marine Base. He loved fishing and being on the water and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was an avid NASCAR fan.


George Walter Purnell, 77, of Woodbridge, Virginia passed away on June 4, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

George was born in Milford, Delaware on April 17, 1937.  He joined the Marine Corps in 1955 and served 20 years.  He served in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V.

Gerda M. Noe of Woodbridge, VA died at the age of 91 on May 31, 2014. She was born in Heilbronn, Germany on June 8, 1922 to the late Hermann and Rosa Drautz. By the Fall of 1948, she met and married her husband,an Army Sergeant, and came to America to begin her life anew.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Theodore J. Noe and her daughter Barbara R. Noe. Gerda is survived by her brother-in-law Carliss E. Noe (Genny) of Myrtle Beach, SC and sister-in-law Jean Waltz (Charlie) of Glen Burnie, MD.


Janet Miriam Mehr, age 80, of Dumfries, VA, passed away on June 6, 2014. Beloved wife of 61 years to John Mehr. Loving mother of Linda Carlson (David), Daniel Mehr, Steven Mehr (Anne), and Thomas Mehr (Elizabeth). Cherished grandmother of 13. Dear sister of Phillip Rasmussen (Terry) and Leo Rasmussen. Janet was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Covenant

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 2 PM at the Lutheran Church of the Covenant, 15008 Cloverdale Road, Dale City, VA 22193. Inurnment will be at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery. 


Lt. Col. William R. Gentry, USMC (Ret.)

William Russell Gentry passed away as a result of complications from Parkinson’s Disease on June 3, 2014. His death occurred just prior to his 53rd Fathers’ Day, 56th Wedding Anniversary and 81st birthday. At the end of his life he was with or in the thoughts of those he loved best. Bill was born in Surry County, North Carolina on July 31, 1933.


WILLIAM SEYMOUR “BILL” LYNN  Of Cape Coral, Florida died June 2, 2014 from cancer. Bill was born in Richmond, Virginia on November 11, 1939. He grew up in Occoquan where he developed his love of boating, swimming and fishing at a young age. He graduated from Gar-Field High School in 1958 and attended the College of William and Mary. In the early 1960’s he joined his father and uncle in establishing Prince William Marina, a full service power boat facility, located on the Occoquan River. He was Secretary and Vice President respectively of family corporations, W.S. Lynn & Sons, Inc. and Riverwalk at Occoquan, Inc.

Bill, along with other young community business leaders, was instrumental in organizing Woodbridge’s Junior Chamber of Commerce in the 60’s. He served as Vice President of the Greater Woodbridge Jaycees, and received their Distinguished Service Award, Outstanding Young Men of the Year award, and Sparkplug Award. He was listed in the 1966 edition of “Outstanding Young Men in America”. He held membership in Johnson Motors Franchised Dealers Association, and received their Anchorman Award. In 1965, he was awarded the Big G-Award by Glasspar Boat Co. Bill held membership in Washington Marine Dealers and Starcraft Boats Franchise Dealers Association. He served as Mayor and Council member for the Town of Occoquan.


A faithful servant of his Lord Jesus Christ, David served as a hospice chaplain and priest in the Convocation of Anglicans in North America. He ministered to the dying and their families with compassion and mercy. He was born in Spokane Washington, David developed a love for the mountains, streams, and rugged beauty of the west. Prior to following his call into the Priesthood, David was a computer software developer and product designer. With his career and international interests, he lived in Italy, Israel, and Switzerland with worldwide travel to England, Australia, Japan, Scotland, and Russia. He served our country in the US Army National Security Agency.

His prayer is for the unity of Christ’s Church that the East and West will  reunite and we may all be one in Him.


James L. Long, 77 of Huntington passed away Friday evening, May 30, 2014, at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Ctr., in Daytona Beach; FL. James graduated from Huntington High Class of 1955

After graduation, he joined the Army and served in Korea. After his discharge, he returned to Huntington and then moved to Chicago, where he obtained a degree in Engineering. After a position with Honeywell in Phoenix, he was hired by the US Postal Service as a postal engineer. He traveled the country redesigning postal centers for smoother operations.


Kathryn Jane Coleman, daughter of George Atkinson Cashion and Jane Jack Cashion was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 7th, 1950. She was raised in Darby, Pennsylvania. She attended Ridge Avenue Elementary, Darby Colwyn Jr. and Sr. High, and Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.

Throughout her life, Jane held a variety of jobs at various duty stations and devoted a large portion of her time to volunteering. Jane’s other hobbies included gardening, reading, and taking care of her dogs and cats.
