David L. Cornelius, Sr., 61, of Lorton passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at home surrounded by family.

Cornelius, a native of Atlantic City, NJ, was a US Army veteran. He retired after 24 years in the Army, and continued his career as a federal government employee.


Linda Burke, 41, of Manassas, VA, on June 22, 2014.  She is survived by husband Liam, children Josephine and Patrick, mother Lilly Froewys, brother Walter Froewys, and an extended host of family and friends.


Ronald R. Green, Sr., 69 of Alexandria, Virginia, died June 23, 2014, at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital surrounded by family.  He honorably served in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Sergeant Major.  He is survived by his wife, Wanda; sons, Ron Green, Jr of Portsmouth and Michael Green of Fairfax; and one grandchild, Ronald William Green.  A memorial is scheduled for 6pm, Monday, July 7 at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge.  The family will receive visitors from 7-9pm immediately following the memorial at Country Inn & Suites, 2621 Prince William Pkwy, Woodbridge.


Margaret “Peg” Heggenstaller, 83, of Woodbridge, VA, on June 27, 2014. Peg is a member of the Dale City Women of the Moose. She is a collegiate of the Women of the Moose and also the Academy of Friendship. She was predeceased by Earl Rosenberger III. Peg is survived by her husband of 63 years, Claude “Chet”, 5 children, sister Anna Waldrip of Olean, NY, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends Monday, July 7, 2014 from 8-8:30 a.m. with a 8:30 a.m. service at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge. Interment to follow at Quantico National Cemetery.

Judson Anne (Juddy) Shumaker 77, of Woodbridge, VA passed away peacefully on July 5, 2014. She was born April 23, 1937 in Virginia. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Driscoll Mason and Rudolph Mason; and her son, Cecil C. Shumaker, II. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Cecil (C.C.) Shumaker of Woodbridge; a daughter, Margaret Shumaker Pearson; and son-in-law, Allen Pearson of Chantilly, Va,; a daughter-in-law, Beverli Shumaker of Omaha, NE,; two grandchildren, Rachelle Cardiel of Omaha, NE, and Mason Shumaker of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE; two great grandchildren, Madison Cardiel and Brooke Cardiel of Omaha, NE.


Family and Friends will be received at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd, Dale City VA 22193 on Thursday, July 10 2014 from 7-9pm. A life celebration service will be celebrated on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00am. Interment will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at National Memorial Park, King David, 7400 Lee Highway, Falls Church VA 22042 at 11:00am.

Scott Lee Peterson, 54, of Triangle, VA passed away peacefully on July 1, 2014, at Virginia Hospital Center after a brief illness.

Scott was born on July 18, 1959 in Germany. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Betty Peterson and is survived by his twin sister, Heidi Peterson of Woodbridge, VA and his life partner, Duke Fancher of Arlington, VA.


Marjorie Keene Tisdale Burke so loved the Lord, and has gone home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 23, 2014.

Marjorie was born on May 27, 1926 in Chase City, Virginia.  She graduated from Thyne Institute in Chase City and attended Virginia State College and Knoxville College.  Marjorie became a Special education teacher for thirty plus years while receiving a Master’s Degree.  She taught in the New Jersey school system for many years and retired from the Fauquier County school system in Virginia.


Helen K. Runion, 75, of Ruther Glen, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 13, 2014 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Purcellville, VA on July 31st, 1938.  Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She had worked at Featherstone Elementary in Woodbridge, VA, as well as in entertainment at Kings Dominion.
