CRAIG STEPHEN MALZ – age 59, was taken suddenly yet peacefully to heaven on August 6, 2016 after a very short, but intense bout of pneumonia. Born December 10, 1956 in Bedfordshire, England, Craig spent most of his life as a resident of Woodbridge, VA. He relocated with his father to Phenix-City, AL in 2003 until his father’s passing in 2011. Not long after that he moved to Columbus, GA , and had just this year moved to Salisbury, MD.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Joan Malz, and younger sister Nadine Malz-Deter. He is survived by sisters Lorraine Fierstein (Ray) of Salisbury, MD and Eileen Jones (Mike) of Columbus, GA, nephew Jeffrey, nieces Amy, Melissa and Mary, as well as 1 great niece and 8 great nephews.


Carrie Catherine Copeland Joshlyn, 40, of Lynchburg, VA died Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Born December 17, 1975 in Alexandria, VA, she was the daughter of Stephen Copeland and Nancy Griffin Copeland.
Carrie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Spud and Maxine Copeland, and Betty and Griff Griffin, all of Hampton, VA.

In addition to her parents, Carrie is survived by her loving sons, Ethan A. Joshlyn of Haymarket, VA and Samuel Joshlyn-Sapyta of Lynchburg, VA; her brother, David Copeland, and his wife, Amy, of Washington, DC; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who cared for her dearly.


Janet Anita Hollins Carter of Manassas, Va., 82, passed peacefully Nov. 19, 2016, following a long battle with lung cancer.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Randolph Carter. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Diane Sever, her son-in-law Paul David Sever Jr. of Woodbridge Va., her grandchildren Caryn & Michael Sever of Annandale, Va., Valerie & Adam Farmer of Virginia Beach Va., Ashley Moore & Dustin Sever of Arlington, Va., and three  great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Carol Hollins Mitchell of Herndon, Va. She is preceded in death by her parents Iva Lee “Peggy” Nowlin & Silas A. Hollins along with four brothers and two sisters.


Claudia King Smith Lynn was born in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Corrine King and James Turner Smith.

After her father’s death the family moved to Davis Island, Florida, where she attended St, Andrew School and the Ringley Museum School of Art in Sarasota, Fla.


Edward M. Lewis, age 70, passed away after a long struggle with cancer on October 30, 2016 at Tribute at Heritage Village.

He was born April 20th 1946 in Wilmington, Delaware to William Lewis and Margaret Miller. When he was young, his family moved to Rehoboth Beach of which he had many fond memories of his family, particularly his four siblings. In 1962, his family moved to Kensington, Md. where he later attended Einstein High School.


Edward Loring Mickle, a long time resident of Woodbridge, Virginia passed away on September 30, 2016 in Fairfax, Virginia. He was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on January 1st, 1930.

Ed retired after 20 years in the United States Air Force followed by a second career in civil service. While serving in England, he met his lifelong love, Hermione Baddeley (Pat) and they were married in Germany on October 30, 1952. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of 63 years, his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Gunzburg (Frank), Susan D’Emidio (John), Sonia Douty (Dale), Teresa Brown (Shane) and Tina Matsukas (Steve). Ed is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.


David Billings sometimes known as Vernon was a plumber in Manassas VA. Lived in Manassas for over 40 years before retiring to Tazewell VA, his home place. He passed away March 14, 2015 in a hospital in Bristol TN with phemonia.


Jamie L. Callahan, 37, of Ladysmith, died Saturday, September 10, 2016.
Born in Fredericksburg, she had a passion for fire and rescue. She adored her husband and son.
Survivors include her loving husband, Mark Callahan; son, Kenneth Brown; parents Johnny and Vicky Hagan; brother, Charles Hagan and his wife, Sarah; her loving family, numerous friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Rev. Charles Tillapaugh officiating.

Mary W. White, dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and community stalwart, who enjoyed a long and extraordinarily wonderful life, passed away at 12:22pm on 26 August 2016, after a long illness and complications from strokes.

She was the beloved wife of 67 year (September 8, 1948) to Colonel Ulysses X. (Xerk) White, US Army, Retired; devoted mother of Ulysses X. White, Jr (deceased), Barry M. White and Alvin B. White of Manassas, VA loving grandmother of Elisha W. Coffrin, Randy M. White, Patrice W. McIlhany, Cameron J. White and Mariah A. White; and wonderful great-grandmother of Reese Xerxes and Kyle Coffrin, LaDamian and Akiera McIlhany. She is also greatly missed by her daughters-in-law, Felice Motley White and Jean Walker White, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. On January 1, 1930, Mary Alice Mack and Johnny Wilson brought forth on this earth Mary Elizabeth Wilson–a person of great character, integrity and strength, vibrant and ready to take on the world. Take on her world, she did! Although born in Birmingham, Alabama, Mary Elizabeth was raised by her grandparents, Sylvester and Sallie Lou Mack, in Marianna, a small town in northwestern Florida, where she received her primary and secondary education.
