He was born on May 16, 1948 in Cleveland, Tennessee the son of the late Clifton and Virginia (Storm) Farmer. He was lawyer, Stephen M. Farmer PC, practicing law in the northern Virginia area for over three decades.

Sharon is survived by two sons from her marriage to Devere T. Smith (deceased); Bryan T. Smith of Richmond, Va. and Eric A. Smith of New Orleans, La.
