Virginia Moul passed away Saturday, April 1, 2016. Born Irma Virginia Hicks in Bedford County on June 3rd 1919, Virginia attended Radford College, graduating with honors in 1940. She began a teaching career in Montvale where she also learned to fly an airplane, securing a pilot’s license in 1941. After the war she moved to Chesapeake where she met and married Kenneth Moul, her husband of 52 years. After living in Atlanta and Richmond, the couple settled in Northern Virginia in 1953, where they had their children and lived the balance of their lives with the exception of a seven-year hiatus during he 1960’s when they lived in Chicago for two years and in San Juan, Puerto Rico for five. In the 1980’s she taught homebound children in the Fairfax County school system. From 2000 until her passing, Virginia lived in the Westminster at Lake Ridge community. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfax City. Virginia was a loving mother and dedicated to her family. Her beloved husband, Kenneth, and seven sisters and brothers preceded her in death. Family members surviving her are son Richard of Columbia, SC, his wife Peggy and daughters Anna and Irina, and son Robert of Arvada, Co, his wife Shawn and daughters Erica and Kendra. Her sister, Dorothy Palmer of Roanoke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Westminster at Lake Ridge Friday, April 7. Evelyn Smith Lunsford was born on April 10, 1923 on Sonoma Farm, now Heritage Hunt in Gainesville, VA. She fell asleep in death at the age of 93 at her home on Catharpin Road, April 4, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mode and Leafy Smith; her husband: Floyd Lunsford; brother: Theodore Smith and sisters: Marjorie Smith, and Frances Hunsberger.


Adam Amberger passed away at home on Thursday, March 30, 2017. He is proceeded in his death by his grandparents; Jeanne Cochran, Carlton Cochran & Charles Amberger.

He leaves behind his parents; Lynne Amberger & Michael Amberger; grandmother; Virginia Amberger Finnell, aunt; Marcia Luley, uncles; David Amberger & Steven Amberger, cousins; Chris Luley, Mike Luley, Melissa Heckle and other relatives.


Eileen A. Williams of Manassas, VA (Age 64) passed peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Mother of John Edward Sickel (Kim), beloved Nana to Mason and Ryan; sister of Teresa M. Johnson (Dale) and Grace E. Rosboschil (Joseph); aunt of Sara M. Rosboschil, Cameron D. Creinin (Ben),Matthew Rosboschil (Kathleen) and great aunt of Madison Rosboschil. Also, survived by many cousins and countless friends.

Funeral services will be held at Buckhall United Methodist Church, 10251 Moore Dr. Manassas Va. at 11am on Saturday the 8th of April 2017.


Michael Akins,(MSGT, USA, Ret.) age 71, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on April 2, 2017. Beloved husband of 49 years to Marie Akins. Loving father of Sabrina Akins, and Cheyanne Akins-Dixon. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy Knudson, Amber Knudson, and Kian Becker.

Michael proudly served our country for over 34 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army. He served in both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. Michael later worked in the computer field as an engineer. He rode motorcycles for over 30 years, and rode with the Patriot Guard and Rolling Thunder. He was very proud of being a member of Toastmasters (ATM-S, CL).


John David Carstens, 49, of Lake Ridge, VA passed away peacefully from complications due to a sudden brain stem bleed at INOVA Fairfax Hospital on March 29, 2017.  He was born in 1967 in Cheverly, MD, to the late John Thomas Carstens and Jean Frances Bussan Carstens.  John is a lifetime native D.C. metropolitan area resident and grew up in College Park, MD, as the oldest of 4 children.  

John married the love of his life, Jennifer Britt Carstens, in 1996.  He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer and his daughter, Katie Carstens from Woodbridge, VA; his two sisters, Lori Carstens (Joseph Huntington); Sondra Stegemann (Joseph) and his brother, Sean Carstens, all from Maryland.  He is also preceded in death by his nephews, Jonathan Carstens, (Asuka Shavers), Leo Huntington, and by his nieces Emily Huntington and Ashley Stegemann, (all Maryland natives); by his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Linda Britt, from Fredericksburg, VA;  his sister-in-law, Stephanie McLaughlin, (Joseph); his nephew, Andrew, and nieces, Rachel, Ellen, and Mikayla of Pittsburgh, PA.
