Gladys Irene Simpson, age 92, of Stafford, VA, formerly of San Angelo, TX, Westminster, MD, and Woodbridge, VA, passed away on June 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late George E. Simpson, Sr. Loving mother of Jean Thompson (John), and George E. Simpson, Jr. (Bernadette). Cherished grandmother of Christina Andrews (Gary), Carol Housden (Larry), John Thompson, Jr. (Ann), Matthew Simpson (Christina), Katherine Teada (Brian), and Beth Brogan (Zeke). Great grandmother of Timothy Andrews, Valerie White, Alex Macbride, Lorraine Macbride, Zachary Thompson, Jessica Thompson, Abigail Simpson, and Eli Simpson. Great great grandmother of Abigail White and Irene White. Dear sister of Donald Taylor (Lee). Gladys was born on January 20, 1925 to the late Rex and Nellie (Campbell) Taylor. She was predeceased by her sisters; late Hazel Chapman (late Jesse), and the late Betty Brown (late Tom).

Gladys was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in San Angelo, TX. She had attended the Church of the Nazarene, Woodbridge, VA. She was a loving and caring, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother; which is an honor that not many people can attain. Gladys loved to crochet, and work in the garden, but more importantly to keep up with her floral garden. Her home made yeast rolls were the best that anyone ever tasted. Her late husband could not wait for the rolls to cool from the over, before he could butter one and feast on it. Her late Siberian Husky; Kiana, was also the love of her life.


Stephen Michael Gomez went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2017. He is survived by his father and mother, Frank and Kim Gomez. Along with his brothers and sister, Frank, Jeremy, and April, as well as his nephew and niece, Frank Jr. and Cali Lynn. In addition to his beloved Pups Bear, Bella, and Apollo; His Grand-Parents Prudencio & Lidia Gomez, David & Sumruai (Dang) Puckett, & Mona G. Ayers. Along with countless Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends he loved throughout his life.

Stephen would make a friend out of complete strangers and enjoyed being the person who loved to make everyone laugh with his jokes and pranks. He was always the life of the party! He had an absolutely, contagious smile. He adored the Oakland A’s and Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed Mark McGuire and Joe Montana, and held them in high regard. His love for his nephew and niece, Frankie and Cali, will forever live in the hearts of his loved ones.

The family will be accepting visitation from 10-11a.m. on Thursday, June 15 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1400 G Street, Woodbridge, VA 22191 with a service celebrating his life immediately following. Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery on Thursday, June 15th at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the name of Carl Hasle to St. Paul United Methodist Church.


Boaman Thomas (SCPO, USN, Ret.), age 78, of Dale City, VA, passed away on June 4, 2017. Father of Cynthia Hawkins (William), Paul T. Thomas (Kim) and Samantha M. Carlisle. Cherished grandfather of Elijah Hawkins, Noah Hawkins, Gabriel Kalen Thomas, Ileea Thomas, Dannetta Thomas, and Schelene Thomas. Brother of Ross Thomas. Uncle of Sonya Thomas. He is the great grandfather to a host of grandchildren and great uncle to a niece and nephew. Boaman was preceded in death by his daughter, Chrystal Thomas.

Boaman proudly served our country for over 20 years in the United States Navy, where he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his military service he earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Baptist College in Charleston, SC. Afterwards, Boaman taught electronic technology at Control Data Institute in Philadelphia, PA and the Washington, D.C. prison facility in Lorton, VA. In retirement Boaman was a computer techie. He loved to use and enjoy the newest and best gadgets on the market.


Nannie Gilman was born on December 30, 1919 and passed away on June 5, 2017 at 4 PM at Birmingham Green Nursing Home, Manassas, VA, following a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by Mother Elle Gilman; Father Hei Gilman; Grandfather Big Jim Gilman, Brothers Ray, Basil, Archie, Little Hei, Jim and Bear; Sister and Brother-in-Law Vickie and Johnny Parsons; Sister-in-Law Grace Gilman, Nephew Donald Ray Gilman and Niece Linda Gilman.


Mary Ellen Wright, age 82, of Fairfax, VA, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2017. Beloved husband of over 56 years to Elden Harvey Wright (Col, USA, Ret.) Loving mother of William Harvey "Bill" Wright (Shellie Bingham). Cherished grandmother of Isabelle Marie and Benjamin Michael Bingham-Wright. Dear sister of Reverend Conrad G. Crow (Carolyn) and adored aunt to his children, Terri Knight and Marshall and Charles Crow. She was the daughter of the late Osler Gilbert and Myrtle Lenore Crow.

Mary Ellen was born in Bluefield, WV, graduated Valedictorian at Beaver High School, and received her degree in Chemistry at Auburn University, of which she was a fervent life-long alumnus. She also received a post-graduate Medical Technology certification at the Medical College of Richmond (now VCU) and worked as a research chemist for the University of Tennessee. Mary Ellen traveled the world with her family, as Elden served our country in the United States Army. Mary Ellen and Elden were inseparable, where there was one, the other was right there. She was a devoted member of the Providence Presbyterian Church, where she worked and volunteered for many years and was also the longest serving member of the choir. Mary Ellen also participated in many projects with the Fairfax Lions Club, as she stood hand in hand with her husband who is a lifelong member of the organization.


Betty Jane Anderson, age 87, passed away on June 6, 2017 at her home in Manassas, VA.

She is predeceased by her parents James and Linda Gregory; two daughters: Linda Evans and Susan Rogers and one son-in-law: Bob Lockhart.
