Shirley Ann Combs, age 77, of Warrenton, VA formerly of Manassas, VA went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Brookside Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

She was born on August 23, 1940 in Martinsville, VA the daughter of the late Samuel Howell and Nellie (Craddock) Howell of Warrenton, VA. She served as a secretary at the Defense Intelligence Agency.


Susan is survived by her loving husband Victor, three sons Victor John (Elise), John David (Katie), Matthew James (Lindsey), and grandchildren Cheyenne, Sophia, Lucas, Nathan, and Savannah. She is also survived by her mother Patricia Drane (Musin) and predeceased by her father Raymond Drane.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00PM Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia where funeral services will be held at 3:00PM with Father Devan Arockiasamy officiating.


James Calvin Slaughter, age 77, of Woodbridge, VA, formerly of Midland, VA departed this life on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. He was the loving father of Tami Slaughter O’Hara and Nicole Slaughter Boissière (Said). He is also survived by four brothers; Wayne, Gilbert (Ann), Harrison (Gudrun), and Edward (Wynettia), three sisters; Virginia Cox (DeLacy), Lillian Banks (Herman), and Gale Farmer (Jerome), three grandchildren; Nicholas and Taylor O’Hara and Sydney Boissière, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. James was preceded in death by his lovely wife Vera Yvonne, his parents James and Fannie Slaughter, and his siblings Madeline, Godfrey, Judson, and John. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Greater Little Zion Baptist Church, 10185 Zion Drive, Fairfax, VA 22032. The viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Memorial Park, Annandale, VA. Alma Winifred Deyarmin “Dee”, age 91, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Reston Hospital Center in Reston, Virginia.

Dee was born on October 9, 1925 in Indiana, PA to the late Chester Clark and Grace Catherine (Beers) Bair. Winifred was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to not only family but to the many she fostered as her own.
