John T Owen Jr, also known as ‘JT’, Dad, and Poppa, left us peacefully on Friday January 23rd at the age of 97. He was born on January 12th 1921 in Nathalie VA, one of 8 children. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan of 72 years. Five children, Tommy (Waltraud), Donny (Elaine), Barry (Luanne), Debbie (Carlton), and Tina (Don), 12 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He was a dedicated family man, WWII veteran, successful business man and avid gardener. He will be remembered for his charm, wit, hard work ethic and love for his family.
The family will receive friends at the Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, VA 22191, on Tuesday, February 27,2018 from 11:00 AM until the time of his Life Celebration at 12:00 PM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Fairfax City Cemetery
Coryne Boggs Choate was born on August 23, 1917 to Vivian Earl Boggs and Arcola Schmidt in El Paso, Texas and passed away on February 16, 2018. She spent the first 95 years of her life in Texas prior to moving to Virginia. She was loved by all her knew her and will be missed. All services and interment will take place in Texas at a later date.
Nancy Beatrice Weigel (known as Bea by many) passed away peacefully on February 21, 2018 at the amazing age of 95.
Throughout her life she loved to knit, sew, cook and garden. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert H. Weigel. She is survived by her daughter Joyce L. Matthews and her son-in-law James F. Matthews; her son John C. Weigel and daughter-in-law Theresa Weigel; 6 grandchildren: Scott, Kim, Rebecca, Brandon, Miranda and Stacy as well as one great-grandson, Owen. Her uniqueness and personality will be remembered by all those that loved her so completely.
Susie Quarles Allison, of Lake Ridge, VA, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018 at 100 years of age. She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Gordon H. Allison; and older brothers –Rufus, Wirt (Chris), Brian, and Richard Quarles. She is survived by sons – Gordon, Lynn, and Joseph. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren – Dawn McDade, Chantelle Allison, Erin Dower, and Cara Marshall; and great-grandchildren Kylie, Devon, Takota, Ashton, Wesley, Hannah, and Zachary.
She was a life-long Methodist and a graduate of Emory & Henry College, where she met and married her husband. Donations of funds and equipment from Lamar Allison began their support of the broadcast media program at the College. Their additional funding enabled WEHC-FM programming to reach a large segment of the population of the Shenandoah Valley.
Betty Ann Fletcher Perez, age 89, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on February 18, 2018 at the Heritage Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville, VA. Dear sister of Nancy Davis (Will). Adored aunt of Tanya Hill (Matt), Susan Steele, Lynn White (Tom), Douglas Davis, and Jeffrey Davis (Donna). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Predeceased by her siblings; Robert G. Fletcher and Paul E. Fletcher of Harrisonburg, VA, and her sister Colleen F. Fletcher McGrath of Waterbury, Connecticut.
Betty was born and raised in Harrisonburg, VA to the late Paul R. and Madge L. (Fuller) Fletcher. She attended Harrisonburg High School, and worked at the College Inn; until she met Arnie Martin. They married and moved to Youngstown, Ohio. After Arnie passed away, she met and married William Perez. After his passing, Betty came to Woodbridge, VA , to live with her sister and family. She worked at the Roy Rogers Restaurant until her retirement. Betty attended the Church of Christ in Woodbridge, until she was unable to travel. In her free time, Betty was a huge fan of the Washington Nationals. She also enjoyed to crochet, read, do crossword puzzles, and collect dolls. She will be missed by all who knew her.
