Our wonderful wife and mother, Heidi Helpern Keene left this earth on March 27, 2019. She is no longer in pain.
Born on May 10, 1948 in Boston MA to the late Maurice Helpern and his wife Jacqueline Rutherford Helpern who survives her. Heidi was an incredible woman. She was not only a great wife and mother but an outstanding nurse who gave her all for her patients. She injured her back helping a patient twenty years ago and has been in constant pain ever since. Through the pain, she always managed to smile and share her time and love with her husband of almost 50 years David Robert Keene who survives her. They were truly best friends and shared a love like no other.She leaves behind her son’s David Keene II (Maureen) and Marc Goodman. Her 6 grandchildren will miss her and carry her memory in their hearts. Her brother, Dr. Joseph Helpern of SC and her sisters Amy Fischman of SC and Holli Levy of MD are going to miss her beautiful smile and loving heart.
Services will take place at a later date in Mansfield, Ohio where she will be interred in the Mansfield Cemetery.
Donald E. Simpkins, 65, if Woodbridge, Virginia on March 25, 2019. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 6600 Old Centreville Rd, Centreville, Virginia with a Homegoing Celebration at 11 a.m. The burial will be held Friday, April 5, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA 22172.
Russell Dillard Hancock, 88, of Manassas, VA joined his Lord in Heaven on Monday, March 25. He died at his home of 54 years surrounded by loved ones.
Russell was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He was a moral man of integrity who influenced the lives of many. An avid and gifted outdoorsman, he generously shared his love of fishing and hunting with his family and all who showed interest.
He was a proud veteran, having served active duty in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. 779 DH Foxx. In 1958, Russell began his 56-year career with NOVEC. He began his vocation as a Lineman and retired in 1994 as District Manager. He is a celebrated 64-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
As a long-time member of the Manasseh Masonic Lodge, Russell was raised to the rank of Master Mason on May 3, 1971. A Masonic funeral service will be held at the start of his planned memorial service and all Master Masons are invited to attend.
Proceeded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Marie “Patsy”, Russell is survived by his children Russell A. “Rusty” Hancock of Drewryville, VA, Ed Hancock of Franklinton, NC, Cheryl Hancock of Manassas, VA, and Suzi Smith of Stephens City, VA; one sister, Mary Delores Gold of Abingdon, MD; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.
Memorial services will be held at Buckhall United Methodist Church, 10251 Moore Drive, Manassas, on Saturday, March 30, at 11:00am followed by a graveside service at Buckhall Cemetery. A reception to celebrate his life will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following interment.
Memorial contributions may be made in Russell’s honor to Buckhall United Methodist Church or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

John Francis Carr, of Bristow, VA, age 59, passed away on March 25, 2019.
He was born on September 25, 1959 in New York to the late Francis Joseph and Theresa Ann (Farrell) Carr.
John grew up in Hicksville, NY, as a child he was active in the Boy Scouts and Little League. He worked as a Financial Analyst at BAE Systems.
Survivors include his brother and his wife; two nieces, a loving aunt and many cousins.
All Services will be private.

William “Bill” A. Semrov Jr, 79, of Dale City, passed away Sunday evening, March 24, 2019 at The Adler Center in Aldie, VA.
He was born Nov 13, 1939 in Cooperstown, NY, son of William and Christina Semrov. He served in the United States Army for over 22 years. While stationed in Bavaria, Germany he met his future wife Marianne. They married in March 1964. After retiring from the military he worked as a postal carrier for over 20 years. Following his retirement, he became an avid walker.
He is survived by his wife Marianne, his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Judy Semrov, his daughter Angela, his sister and brother-in-law Betty and Andrew Lisiesky of Binghamton, NY, and his sister Frances Thayer of Cooperstown, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m., Monday April 1, with a service at 12 p.m. at Mountcastle Turch, Dale City. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery.
