Linda Hink Hanson of Woodbridge, Virginia passed away on July 2, 2019 at her home in the presence of her family. She was a graduate of Virginia Tech and received her Masters from Mary Mount University. She taught elementary art in the Prince William County school system for 32 years, retiring in the spring of 2018. She was an advocate for the Relay for Life, raised money for breast cancer research and a volunteer for the Girl Scouts in her local community. She is survived by her husband, Kevin R. Hanson, her children, Calvin and Colleen, her parents, Frederick and Janice Hink, her siblings, Karen, Fred Jr. and Sharon, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her godson, Jonathan Paul Hink. The family will be receiving visitors from 3 to 5pm, with a 5pm service, Tuesday, July 9th at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192. Kristina “Krissy” Marie Doyle of Woodbridge, VA departed this life on July 1, 2019. She is survived by her loving husband Kevin Doyle; beloved sister, Sandra “Sandy” Bivens and beloved father Dustin “Dusty” Darnell as well as her cherished “fur babies” Lizzie and Penny. Her mother Linda Sue (Hall) Darnell, predeceased her.

Krissy was born in San Diego, CA on August 23, 1969, and as the child of a US Naval Submarine Master Chief, lived in many different parts of the country before settling in Northern Virginia where she attended Woodbridge Senior High School. It was there that Krissy discovered her first and lasting passion for performing on the stage. After high school, Krissy performed professionally at many theatres in the greater Washington, DC area. Krissy was known for her dynamic and powerful singing voice, irresistible charm and vivacious energy on the stage. She would later segue that energy into a very successful career as the Manager, Member and Data Services for the Society of American Florists.


Dr. Curtis Craig Shockley died at his home July 1, 2019. He was born in Aldie, Loudoun County December 11, 1936, the only child of the late Craig Curtis Shockley and Audrey Gertrude Poland Shockley. He was a 1955 graduate of Loudoun County High School where he played center on the undefeated football team. He was a very bright student, voted best all-around by his Senior Class. Curtis was quoted in his high school yearbook, “A man’s fortunes are the fruit of his character” – – very prescient for him. He was a Jefferson Scholar at UVA, transferring after three years of study in Biology to the Southern School of Optometry in Memphis, TN where he acquired a Doctor of Optometry degree. He returned to Virginia, eventually setting up an Optometric practice in Manassas he operated until he retired in 2001.

He was an avid outdoorsman – – fishing and hunting – – and enjoyed trips to Russia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Australia, Africa, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and other US states in pursuit of fish and game he could kill and have mounted to put on his walls at home. He was a die-hard Redskins fan, attending many home games and the 1984 Super Bowl game in Tampa. He had a very outgoing personality, was always the life of the party, and enjoyed hosting Summer parties at Quail Ridge Lake and Winter deer roasts at his hunt club.


Rosa Javier Recto, 85, of Manassas, Virginia died June 29, 2019 at home. She was retired and a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She is survived by Rodolfo, June, Ronald, Rochelle and Rowen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, 12805 Valleywood Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22192 with visitation to follow at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge from 4-8 p.m.


Debra Ann Garretson, age 61, of Montclair departed this life on June 29, 2019. She is survived by her beloved partner, William Wenninger; cherished sons, Brian Garretson, and Matthew Garretson; adored parents, Shirley and Clifford Yuill, Sr. loving sisters, Diane Biggs(Butch), DeDe Bergan (Bob), Denise Beecroft (Jeff), and Darci Selley; and dear brother, Clifford Yuill, Jr.

Orhan Kurt Andolsun – March 12, 1942 – June 13, 2019

Orhan Kurt Andolsun, 77, of Centreville, passed away at home on June 13, 2019. Orhan was born in Turkey to Feridun and Munevver Tesezer Kurt-Andolsun and came to the United States with his family as a small child. He valued education and graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Psychology. He married Sandra (Hayden) and had 3 children. He retired after a long career with the federal government.


Mary Williams passed away peacefully, at home, at the age of 97, on June 25, 2019. She and her husband had lived in Northern Virginia since 1952, when James, an Air Force veteran, was stationed at Fort Meyer, VA. They moved from North Springfield to Lakeridge in 1971.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, James Williams, in 1996. She was the oldest of five, and predeceased by all four siblings: Rose, Carmen, Nancy and Janet. Born prematurely at seven months, weighing a little over three pounds, Mary was a survivor from the start, and never changed. Her four children, Kathy (Jerry), Sandy, Scott (Marci), and Cynthia (Lowell), gave her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.


Emily Cook Shell, age 94, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at her home in Manassas, Virginia.

Mrs. Shell was born on April 29, 1925 in York, South Carolina to the late Robert Peter and Mary Julia (Culler) Cook.
