Miguel Tomas Santos passed away at the age of 47 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11th, 2019 at his home in Woodbridge surrounded by family. He was born on October 4th, 1971 in El Salvador to Rubenia de Jesus Santos and Trinidad Santos Garcia. At age 17 he came to the United States to create a better life for himself and his family. He had 3 beautiful children with Mirian Reyes Santos, his dedicated wife of 30 years: Elsy, Christian, and Gabriela. Miguel was a family man who dedicated his life to his family and church. Every memory with him brings a smile to the face of those who had the privilege of sharing them with him. He was known as a man with a kind soul and a smile for everyone. He stayed true to his character to the very end, making jokes and bringing joy to those around him even in his final days. As a guide and never a judge, he made it into the hearts of all those around him. He leaves behind family and friends that will keep him in their hearts forever. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 17th, 2019 at 9:45am at Holy Family Church, 14160 Ferndale Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22193. Burial will follow at 2:00pm Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032.

Resting in the arms of Jesus, Charles H. “Buzzy” Shoemaker, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, August 12, 2019, at Novant Health UVA Hospital in Manassas, VA. He had recently suffered a fall that required surgery. He was then transferred to a rehab center where he died due to health complications. He was 74 years of age. He was preceded in death by his loving parents James “Jim” Robert Henry Shoemaker and Bessie Cordell Shoemaker. He was also preceded in death by his infant sister Barbara Leigh Shoemaker, brother Daniel K. “Danny” Shoemaker, brother James R. “Jimmy” Shoemaker Jr., and sister Linda Dean Shoemaker Pyer. He is survived by his loving sister Brenda Shoemaker Lynn of Manassas VA.

He also leaves behind four loving nieces—Pamela Donnelly of Los Angeles CA, Pattie Lowe of Manassas VA, Suzie Myers of Sterling VA, and Vicki Shoemaker Cloud of Nokesville VA—as well as one loving nephew, Timothy Shoemaker of Atlanta GA. Buzzy will be greatly missed by them and by all of his great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family with whom he stayed close his entire life, and numerous friends. He was one of a kind and dearly beloved by every life he touched.

William Jesse Etheridge, age 78, passed away on August 13, 2019 in Lake Manassas Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville, VA.

He was born on September 5, 1940 in Wilson, North Carolina to the late Marvin David Etheridge, Sr. and Mae (Barnes) Etheridge.


Jose Manuel Berrios, 64, of Dale City, Virginia, died August 10, 2019, at Sentara Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He won the first battle with cancer 5 years ago. He was a student of Jehovah’s Witness and an active member with Alcoholics Anonymous since 1981. He was preceded in death by his mom, the late Jesus Berrios. Manuel is survived by his wife, Rosa Alicia; children, Karla Gracias and Manuel Berrios; two grandchildren, Alexa & Isabelle Gracias; son-in-law, Daniel Gracias; daughter-in-law, Luisa Gallego, mother-in-law, Maria Gonzalez, brothers and sisters & in-laws, Francisco Antonio Berrios, Juana Milagros Berrios, Jose Eszequiel Berrios, Maria Magdalena Berrios, Mauro Gonzalez, Maria De La Paz Gonzalez, Gloria Perez, Cristóbal Gonzalez, Dinora Quito, Daniel Gonzalez, Xiomara Aleman, godchildren, Walter Gonzalez and Karla Gonzalez, and many more loved ones.

The family will receive visitors from 10am – 1pm, Friday, August 16, 2019, at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Boulevard, Woodbridge, VA 22192.

Lillian Rose Lane, 93, of Woodbridge, VA died August 9, 2019 at home. She was a retired bookkeeper for Manassas Ice & Fuel Company (MIFCO). Lillian Lane was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Lillian Lane was preceded in death by her husband Norwood and grandson Danny. She is survived by her daughters Theresa Harris and Susan Wessolleck, three sisters Jane, Camile, Ann and one brother Bob, grandchildren Michael, Susan, Zachary, five great grandchildren and one great grandson. The family will receive visitors Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 11-11:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 13752 Mary’s Way, Woodbridge, VA 22191.
