Denise Michelle Bonner Liss, 72, beloved mother, sister and wife, died at the Capital Caring Health Halquist Center, in Arlington, Virginia, on November 6, 2020.

She was born in the suburbs of Philadelphia and grew up in Brookhaven, PA, the second oldest of eight girls by Eleanor Strootman Bonner and Bernard H. Bonner.  She graduated in 1966 from Notre Dame High School in Moyland, PA, married David G. Liss of Folsom, PA on August 22, 1970, and then settled in Ridley Park, where they began raising the first four of their children.  Her husband’s career relocated them in 1979 to the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C., where she had her fifth child and lived the remainder of her life.


On Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (age 84), Marilyn S. Van Hook passed away peacefully at her home in Woodbridge with her family by her side. Preceding her in death were her parents Frank and Gladys Schemanski, sisters Geraldine F. Morency and Jo Ellen Schemanski, brother Frank C. Schemanski and her grandson Ryan T. Van Hook. Marilyn was a devoted mother to Jeffrey (wife Martha), Gerald (wife Kellie), Christopher, Eric (wife Nith), and Jill. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.

 


The book of life was gently closed for Jovida Leslie Lawson-Pope, who departed her life on Sunday, November 1, 2020 Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Virginia.

Jovida, was born October 22, 1956 to the late John Lawson and Evelyn Lawson-Hyman.  She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and lived most of her young life in Washington, D.C., and Colonial Beach, Va.  She accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord.
