Virginia Democrats rally, vow to find answers after losses, recounts

FREDERICKSBURG — With Virginia’s General Assembly now in session, the Democrats, who nearly clinched a majority in the House of Delegates, rallied Sunday in Fredericksburg calling for a change to the state’s voter laws.

Joshua Cole, who nearly beat Republican Bob Thomas in a recount election for the 28th District in Fredericksburg and Stafford County, spoke at the rally where organizers called for more funding to audit the State Board of Elections to find out why 86 voters in the 28th district were mistakenly given ballots for the neighboring 88th District.

Residents are working to plot the future of the Route 1 and 29 corridors

Good Morning Prince William – The Haymarket Regional Food Pantry is having their Annual Souper Bowl Bingo event on Saturday January 20th from 3-5pm at Alvey Elementary School. Come join all the fun by either purchasing your bingo card for $1 or bring a can of soup, vegetables, beans and the like. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase. Only two high school bands will march in the Gov. Ralph Northam’s inaugural parade. One of them is from our backyard.

The Freedom High School Marching Band in Woodbridge is one of two scholastic bands, chosen from across Virginia, to perform on Saturday’s inaugural parade for the commonwealth’s 73rd governor, Ralph Northam.

The band will leave Saturday morning after meeting for breakfast, and will then head to Richmond to march. For these band members, it’s the largest event in which they’ve ever marched.
