Form the Manassas City police report:

On March 9, 2018 at approximately 6:26 p.m., an officer of the Manassas City Police Department responded to 8805 Liberia Ave (Home Depot) for a report of a shoplifting. A loss prevention associate told police a white male had stolen several power tools from the business. Through investigation the suspect was later identified and taken into custody.

On March 11, 2018 at approximately 2:55 p.m., officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the area of 8700 Centreville Rd for a report of a hit and run. Through investigation it was determined the victim was stopped in traffic on Centreville Rd when her vehicle was rear-ended. When the victim pulled off the road to exchange information the suspect fled the area on Centreville Rd towards Liberia Ave. The suspect vehicle is a dark colored Porsche SUV driven by an Asian male approximately 65-68-years-of-age.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The opening of the Charlie T. Deane Police Station is behind by about three months.

The new station located at 5000 Davis Ford Road adjacent to McCoart Government Center building was due to open November 24, 2017.


RICHMOND – After winning the 28th House District by only 73 votes, Republican Del. Bob Thomas of Fredericksburg dove head first into the 2018 legislative session, saying communication with his colleagues was key to navigating his first year in the General Assembly.

Apparently, he’s a good communicator. The House and Senate approved five of Thomas’ bills – tops among first-year delegates:

Attempted Carjacking – On March 12 at 7:50PM, officers responded to the 14400 block of Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an attempted carjacking. The victim, a 62-year-old woman, reported to police that she was walking back to her vehicle in the parking lot after purchasing items inside of a nearby store when she saw an unknown man leaning against her vehicle. When the victim got into her vehicle, the suspect opened the passenger side door and attempted to grab the victim’s keys. A struggle ensued and the victim was eventually able to push the suspect out of the vehicle. The victim then ran back into the nearby store for help and the accused fled the area on foot. While officers were investigating the incident, a call was received concerning an unknown man attempting to open vehicle doors at the nearby Best Western. When officers arrived, they located the accused and detained him without incident. Further investigation by officers determined that the accused was intoxicated. No injuries were reported and no property was taken. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Franklin MIRANDA, was arrested without incident.
