PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Many of the residents who live around Lake Montclair are seeing a first — the lake bottom.

Work on a $1.2 million project to improve the spillway at the lake’s dam at Dolphin Beach, one of the tallest earthen dams in the state, is about to get underway. The capacity of the spillway needed to be improved and brought up to state code.

WOODBRIDGE — The U.S. Coast Guard declared Neabsco Creek unnavigable.

This means that both private and commercial boats are discouraged from using the waterway in Woodbridge, which connects to the Potomac River.

WOODBRIDGE — The effort to build 325 new homes at the dead end of Horner Road won approval from the Prince William County Planning Commission.

The development called Ray’s Regarde now needs approval from the county’s Board of Supervisors, which would vote to rezone 55 acres of land from agricultural and suburban land to mixed use. That would clear the way for 300 235 new homes — 175 townhomes and 125 stacked condos, called two-over-two units.
