It informed her that she was being considered as a replacement for Murphy, who died in his home from a heart attack in February 2017. Nickerson, who serves on the town’s architectural review board, ultimately wasn’t selected by the town council, but that letter got her thinking.
“It woke up a bug in me,” said Nickerson. “Maybe this town council thing is for me. Maybe this is a way to enact change in my community.”
WOODBRIDGE — Students at Potomac Senior High School are focused on how to prevent a mass shooting at their school.
About 200 gathered in the school’s Woodbridge auditorium at 3401 Panther Pride Drive on April 20, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado, to talk about the threat of shootings, as well as mental health issues.
Prince William County has a homeless problem.
About 400 people in the county live in shelters, or in wooded areas around major roadways and shopping centers.

The new station located at 5036 Davis Ford Road near the Prince William County Government Center will house not only patrol officers but also the Office of the Chief of Police.
BRISTOW — Four children all aged five-years-old were sexually assaulted at a Bristow day care center.
Police said a five-year-old girl told her parent that she had been inappropriately touched while at Minnieland Academy located at 10368 Bristow Center Drive on March 26.
The Manassas Regional Airport is the largest general aviation airport in Virginia.
For years, the airport has attracted pilots and their clients who are looking for an alternative to larger airports like Regan Washington National or Dulles airports.

OWL Volunteer Firefighters responded to the report of a townhouse fire off Sugar Hill Drive in Woodbridge. A second caller reported the fire in the next neighborhood located at 1862 Beegee Court, and responding units were immediately redirected. Crews arrived within minutes and reported fire showing from the back of the townhouse.
