[Monday] night, in response to the high winds associated with passing storms, VRE trains were stopped and held at stations until the storms had cleared. For many of our riders, this was the first time trains had been stopped due to wind.
NOKESVILLE — It’s that time of year again for the residents of Nokesville, Nokesville Day is back with a few changes this year.
Nokesville is a small village in western Prince William County. Each year, it hosts a festival called Nokesville Day which takes place on Saturday, May 19 this year.

MANASSAS — City leaders approved a new fee schedule for the use of fields at Manassas parks.
Under the new guidelines, permits for fields with lights will cost $6.50 per hour and fields without lights $4.75 per hour. For field tournaments, the city will charge $100 per field per day, plus the hourly rate.

Brandishing – On May 12 at 7:33PM, officers responded to the 13900 block of Promenade Commons St in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a brandishing. The victims, two 28-year-old men of Haymarket, reported to police that a motorcycle was parked in the hash marks adjacent to a handicap spot.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On May 11 at 7:18PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Portsmouth Rd and Deward Ct in Manassas (20109) to investigate a crash involving a motorcycle.
Betty Jackson Alexander was born January 2, 1934 and was called home on May 15, 2018. She carried the universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings
