Today, Historic Dumfries Virginia, the non-profit organization that operates the Weems-Botts Museum, announced its participation in the ninth annual Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day. A list of participating museums nationwide is available at arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.


MANASSAS — Candlemakers aren’t welcome in the small four-space parking lot behind Shining Sol Candle Company.

Manassas police served the firm’s owner, Pete Evick, with a no-trespassing order this month that prohibits Evick from walking out of the back door of his shop at 9109 Center Street in Downtown Manassas onto the pavement behind the building. If he does, Evick could be prosecuted, according to the trespass order.

From Prince William police: 

Fatal Crash Investigation – On May 30 at 1:16AM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the Prince William Pkwy near Scenic Point Pl in Manassas (20112) to investigate a single vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on the Prince William Pky in the above area when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Strong Armed Robbery – On May 29 at 1:31AM, officers responded to the CVS located at 13600 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. Employees reported to police that two unknown men entered the business and approached the pharmacy counter. Both suspects then jumped over the counter and demanded prescription medications from the employees as a third suspect waited in front of the store as a lookout. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of prescription medications before fleeing the area in a white SUV, which had been circling the store prior to the incident. No weapons were displayed during the robbery and no injuries were reported. The investigation continues
