STAFFORD — The Stafford County School Board will vote on its 2019-2020 school year calendar at on June 26.
The Board will consider two options for the school year: One would be a pre-Labor Day start. The year would begin on August 12 and conclude in late May.
STAFFORD — Jordan Nicole Garrison, 21, of Stafford, died last Friday in what her obituary states was a “tragic car accident.”
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office closed a portion of White Oak Road in the area of Town and Country Drive for four hours on Friday, June 15. Deputies were investigating a fatal crash that took the life of a 21-year-old woman, authorities said.

You won’t be able to use it to call 911 in Prince William County. When Verizon customers dial 911, the call doesn’t go through.
A woman from Lorton was struck after she pulled off on the side of Interstate 95 south at the Purple Heart Bridge over the Occoquan River.
We don’t yet know why she stopped.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — In the hall of heroes, Charlie T. Deane on Tuesday was honored.
Deane was the longest-serving police chief in the Washington, D.C. region when he retired after 42 years with the department. One of the original 42 officers that formed the Prince William County Police Department in 1970, Deane served as its second leader for 24 years, from 1988 to 2012.
DALE CITY — Father Willson I. “Bill” Korpi brings a new dimension to the priesthood at Holy Family Catholic Church in Dale City.
He is referred to as “father,” but he really is a dad.

On June 17, 2018, at approximately 8:28 p.m., Deputy J.A. Mangan observed a vehicle with a defective headlight traveling southbound on U.S. 1. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle continued on. The vehicle accelerated and a pursuit ensued, prompting the deputy to radio for additional units. The suspect vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed, and, in the area of U.S. 1 and Layhill Road, the vehicle crossed the double yellow line into opposite lanes of travel to get around traffic.
