Crews from Stafford, Prince William called to battle blaze

From Stafford fire and rescue: 

On Tuesday, [Sept.] 4, 2018, at [10:44 p.m.], personnel from the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to the 100 Block of Woodstream Blvd. for a reported residential fire.  The first fire unit arrived on the scene at 22:49 to find heavy fire throughout much of the residence.  Crews quickly attacked the fire, while protecting nearby structures.  There were two adults and two children in the residence during the fire.  All made it out safely. Smoke alarms were present and operating during the time of the fire.

Manassas Regional Airport sees continued growth, $10 million expansion

MANASSAS — Manassas Regional Airport is tracking for continued growth, including a highly anticipated partnership with Chantilly Air, said Dan Radtke, chairman of the Airport Commission, on Monday’s city council meeting.

Chantilly Air will construct two 30,000 square foot hangers and 20,000 square feet of office and terminal space at Manassas Regional — a $10 million expansion. This project is sure to be “a great asset to our community,” said Radtke.

GAINESVILLE — There’s a new Hibachi restaurant opening this month at Gateway Promenade.

A new location of Passion Fin is slated to open at Gateway Promenade in Gainesville at 7320 Atlas Walk Way. While this restaurant’s main attraction is sushi and hibachi, but they will also offer Thai and Chinese food. They will serve beer, wine, sake and an assortment of soft drinks.

Manassas, Woodbridge areas: 3 robberies, 5 burglaries in less than a week

From the Prince William police report:

Attempted Armed Robbery – On September 3 at 5:16PM, officers responded to the WAWA located at 2051 Daniel Stuart Square in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 29-year-old man, reported to police that he was approached by an unknown male asking for money while he was standing outside of the business. When the victim refused, the suspect displayed some knives and threatened the victim. The victim went inside and notified an employee who contacted police. When the victim went back outside to confront the suspect again, a fight ensued before the suspect fled in a grey sedan. No property was reported missing. Minor injuries were reported. The investigation continues.

Quantico to Fredericksburg: Stafford draws future bike trails

STAFFORD — The future of getting around Stafford County could lay on the trail.

County officials held two public workshops in late August to educate residents on their plans to expand the bike and pedestrian facilities. The current bike and pedestrian facilities are located on Deacon Road, Courthouse Road and next to the Rappahannock River. They asked for input on where to put future Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities, drawing up a plan to use as a guide to future improvements.

Grassroots group Under Her says ‘You could have been her,’ heads collection for women in need

A new grassroots organization targeting local communities, Under Her, will launch efforts to support women in need by collecting personal items, in particular, bras and feminine products, at the inaugural “Packing Her Bag, Pushing Her Thru” social to be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Dumfries Community Center from 2 to 5 p.m. Donations can be dropped off anytime during the social.
