Prince William Service Authority picks up achievement award

WOODBRIDGE — (Press Release)  The Prince William County Service Authority was recognized on September 12 for winning the 2018 Virginia SPQA Achievement Award from the U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award (SPQA) Program.

SPQA uses the national Malcolm Baldrige Excellence Framework to set rigorous quality standards for Performance Excellence and to help organizations cultivate continuous improvement at every level. Earlier this year, a team of SPQA examiners assessed the Service Authority against the framework and visited the water and wastewater utility’s facilities for two days to observe and get a deeper understanding of its processes.

Stafford authorizes $2 million for new fire and rescue equipment upgrades

STAFFORD — The Board of Supervisors authorized more than $2 million for the purchase of new fire equipment and apparatus.

The county’s Department of Fire, Rescue uses fire engines and aerial ladder trucks as part of its all-hazard approach to emergency response.

A vision for Manassas in 2040: ‘residents hate sitting on Route 28, they would love to have a dog park’

MANASSAS — Residents could soon see the city of Manassas making changes like a dog park and less traffic on Route 28.

The city has been holding “community conversations” since June, and plans to use the next 18 months to update its comprehensive plan for “land use, development, preservation, and related economic and social issues.”
