FREDERICKSBURG — Two Stafford Board of Supervisors candidates hope their experience will resonate with voters, and land them a permanent seat on board.  

Interim George Washington District Supervisor Tom Coen is campaigning on his record of 20 years of public service which includes a four-year run on the Stafford County Planning Commission.  At a candidates forum in Fredericksburg on Monday night, stressed his ability to be a bridge between the various supervisors.


WASHINGTON — (Press Release) Today, Rep. Elijah. E. Cummings, the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, requested that the Department of Commerce Inspector General Peg Gustafson investigate the Department’s decision to add a question regarding citizenship status to the upcoming 2020 Census.

“Since Secretary Ross’ decision to add the citizenship question to the 2020 Census, Democrats on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee have sought documents from the Departments of Commerce and Justice, as well as the Census Bureau, in order to conduct oversight on the matter,” the Members wrote. “Unfortunately, our efforts have been frustrated by Secretary Ross’ refusal to comply with our oversight requests, the Department of Commerce’s failure to provide documentation due to ‘ongoing litigation,’ and the failure of Republican Committee Members to join our requests to obtain information, documents, or testimony.”


WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) On July 7 at 10:59PM, officers responded to the area of Old Bridge Rd and Rolling Brook Dr in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a crash. The investigation revealed that a driver of a 1993 Toyota Standard was traveling westbound on Old Bridge Rd and attempted to make a left turn onto Rolling Brook Dr. The vehicle crossed in front of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling eastbound on Old Bridge Rd. The driver of the Toyota is believed to have failed to yield the right-of-way to through traffic causing the collision. The driver of the Hyundai was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested at the time of the crash. The driver of the Toyota was initially transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. On September 15, the driver died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash. Prior to his death, the driver was transported out of state to another hospital facility. The Prince William County Police Department was recently notified of the death. The Crash Investigation Unit has reopened the investigation. The driver of the Hyundai reported minor injuries. The investigation continues.


Update 

(Press Release) — During the extensive investigation, detectives from the Special Victims Bureau and Violent Crimes Bureau were able to identify the suspect involved in the abduction that occurred in the 14200 block of Essex Dr in Woodbridge in the morning hours of October 9.


LAKE RIDGE — (Press Release) On October 5 at 6:30 a.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 13304 Occoquan Rd in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a road rage incident.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, reported to police that he, and two other adult male passengers, were driving on the Prince William Pkwy in the area of Summerland Dr when the driver of a red minivan, later identified as the accused, began driving aggressively.

“I am deeply disappointed that the Senate has rushed to confirm Judge Kavanaugh without a complete investigation into the serious allegations against him. A five-day investigation that featured interviews with a handful of people, while ignoring dozens of witnesses who were willing to cooperate and a secret report whose contents could not even be discussed with the public convinces many that the entire goal was to ignore the serious charges.


Bertha Lee Jones, age 82, passed away on October 9, 2018. She was a resident of Dale City, Virginia; and, owner/operator of Bertha’s Beauty and Barber Salon. She served as a foster mother, raising over twenty-five children. Bertha also instructed students in cosmetology to earn their license. She was a member of the Woodbridge Elks and Moose Lodge and the Liberty Riders Motorcycle Club
