MANASSAS, Va. – (Press Release) Write by the Rails (WbtR), the Prince William Chapter of the Virginia Writers Club, is pleased to announce a half-day writing workshop to be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal in Historic Manassas from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The “Back on the Tracks: Fall Writers’ Workshop and Social Campaign Kickoff” will feature a panel on marketing books and writing, along with breakout sessions on writing novels, memoir and poetry. The event will include networking, book sales, a book exchange and live-writing exercises.

LORTON — After a two-alarm fire shut down their facility in February of last year, Covanta Fairfax in Lorton has resumed operations.
The fire inside the waste-to-energy plant raged for nearly two weeks, and fire crews battled the blaze for just as long.
STAFFORD — During the Stafford Board of Supervisors’ meeting on October 2, the county’s director of public works Jason Towery updated the board on all the ongoing construction projects in the county.

CULPEPER — At 8:10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 12), the Virginia State Police responded to a report of a plane crash near the Culpeper Regional Airport. The FAA and NTSB are responding to the scene to investigate what may have caused the small, private plane to crash.
The pilot did not survive the crash.
Prince William County – (Press Release) On October 11 at 9:37AM, officers responded to the Oak Hill General Store located at 12203 Kahns Rd in Manassas (20112) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed that an unknown man, later identified as the accused, entered the store, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. The man took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area in a black Honda Pilot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers observed a vehicle matching the description pull into the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Dumfries Rd near Purcell Dr where a vehicle stop was conducted. The driver was detained without further incident and was determined to be the suspect involved in the robbery. The vehicle and handgun located were also found have been reported stolen from North Carolina. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Jeremy Chanz-Dorsey WILLIAMS, was arrested.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) The Prince William County Service Authority will begin work next week to stabilize a sewer line between Tripoli Boulevard and Main Street in the Town of Dumfries.
Due to creek bank erosion, a Service Authority sewer line and manhole in the area have been exposed. The repair project is scheduled to last approximately four weeks.
