NORTH STAFFORD — Drivers on Garrisonville Road should get ready to see more flashing yellow signal lights.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will install a new flashing yellow signal light at the intersection of Garrisonville Road (Route 610) and Parkway Boulevard, at the entrance to Park Ridge.


STAFFORD — A wider Courthouse Road will come with upgraded water and sewer infrastructure ahead of what Stafford leaders hope will be a new centralized downtown for the county.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors authorized a betterment agreement with a contracting firm to upgrade the water and sewer infrastructure along Interstate 95 and Courthouse Road near both the county courthouse and Route 1.


MANASSAS — A potential solar farm project at Manassas Regional Airport is being put on hold, as staff continues to research options to keep it cost-effective.

The farm would be placed on a portion of property identified as a flood plain, which makes traditional development on it challenging.


MANASSAS – (Press Release) On March 5, 2019, the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue System will increase Advanced Life Support (ALS) service delivery to the community with Rescue Engine 521.

Rescue Engine 521, located at the Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad (GMVRS) will now be capable of providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) care.


STAFFORD COUNTY — Behind the doors of a conference room in Howell Library, formerly England Run, Moms Demand Action held a panel discussion on gun violence.

Fourteen people attended and voiced their insights and concerns regarding gun violence in the community. There were three panelists at the event: “community mom” Eunice Haigler, Captain Lee Peters from the Sheriff Office, and Joshua Cole, assistant pastor and local NAACP chapter president for Stafford County.


STAFFORD — The Stafford County School Board will move forward with its effort to change the attendance boundaries of every elementary school in the county.

The school division will now look at two of three new redistricting proposals, plans C and E. Each School Board member has the ability to make changes to the plans that were selected.


STAFFORD — On Feb. 27, 2009, the doors of Stafford Hospital opened to the public. Before its opening, the only nearby hospitals that Stafford residents could go to for medical care was Mary Washington in Fredericksburg and Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge.

Each opened in 1900 and 1973, respectively. By 2009, the population in Stafford County had increased to 128,000 people, and the county needed a hospital it could call its own.


STAFFORD — The Stafford County Board of Supervisors will seek cash to help dredge Aquia Harbor.

At its February 19 meeting, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved to file grant application on behalf of the Aquia Harbour Property Owners Association (AHPOA), which manages a gated community of 2,300 homes along the Aquia Creek in North Stafford.
