STAFFORD – (Press Release) Stafford Hospital physicians, leaders and clinicians are celebrating the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award, given to the Stafford Hospital Wound Healing Center of Woodbridge.

The Center has achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal, for a minimum of two consecutive years. The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.


STAFFORD – (Press Release) Brooke Point High School Inspire Virginia student officers will host a Virginia Senior Rally on Tuesday, April 9, at 8 a.m. The group has organized a voter registration rally at BPHS to address the importance of registering to vote and participating in elections.

The goal of the group is to promote citizenship and engagement among the graduating class of 2019. Student leaders trained by Inspire Virginia representatives to register new voters will lead the effort.


WASHINGTON — The Wow Air counter at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, usually buzzing with travelers and employees, sat barren without a soul on Thursday, a stark symbol of the airline’s sudden closure.

The low-cost carrier, based in Iceland, confirmed Thursday in a statement and on its website that it had ended operations and cancelled all previously scheduled flights, leaving travelers stranded in Maryland, three other U.S. airports it serves, and abroad.

STAFFORD – (Press release) Stafford County Administrator Thomas C. Foley is pleased to announce the hiring of Alexandre A. Espinosa as the County’s next Chief Financial Officer.

Espinosa comes to Stafford from Montgomery County, Maryland, where he is Director of the Department of Finance and has more than 21 years of experience in budgeting and finance, managing an annual budget of $5 billion.


WOODBRIDGE — A $36 million renovation of Northern Virginia Community College’s Woodbridge campus is expected to start in fall 2020. The Seefeldt Building will be updated to include centralized student services, new classroom spaces, and updated infrastructure.

The renovation, which will take approximately 18-24 months, will provide badly-needed updates and changes to the nearly 50-year-old building.


MANASSAS — City Treasurer Patricia Richie-Folks is getting some back up in the effort to collect delinquent taxes.

Manassas city coffers are short more than $4.5 million back taxes — everything from unpaid meals, lodging, personal property, to business and professional licensing taxes. The delinquent taxes date back to 2014. By law, has five years to collect them or forego the revenue.
