STAFFORD — An Xbox was taken from a home on Page Street on Saturday, April 6 at 12:45 a.m. A sheriff’s deputy was called after the gaming system was reported stolen.

The deputy learned the residents had been awakened when a stranger entered their home through a sliding door and stole several items located on their screened-in porch, including the Xbox, according to Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman.


STAFFORD — Cydny A. Neville, MAEd, a  teacher from Rodney Thompson Middle School in Stafford County, has been selected as an NEH Summer Scholar from a national applicant pool to attend one of 32 summer seminars and institutes supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The endowment is a federal agency that, each summer, supports these enrichment opportunities at colleges, universities, and cultural institutions so teachers can study with experts in humanities disciplines.


FREDERICKSBURG — Democratic Presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke will make stops in Dumfries and Fredericksburg on Wednesday on a tour through Virginia.

His stops will be at two restaurants: Pimenta Jamaican restaurant in Fredericksburg, and El Paso Mexican Grill just outside of Dumfries.


A drive-through lane was the central concern of a new Starbucks planned for The Garrison, a long-awaited development in North Stafford which promises a new movie theater, shops, and housing.

MANASSAS — The Manassas Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the Madrigal Singers of Osbourn Park High School for Beethoven Festival, an all-Beethoven performance at 7:30 pm on May 4,  at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

The Madrigal Singers perform under the direction of Dominic Izzo, the vocal teacher at Osbourn Park High School.  Accompanied by the MSO under the direction of James Villani, they will perform Beethoven’s Mass in C Major (Kyrie, Gloria), and the ‘Hallelujah’ from ‘Christ on the Mount of Olives’.
