MANASSAS — Prince William County’s “Democratic Immigrant Caucus” hosted a rally and vigil against immigrant children’s prisons as part of a collaboration with the nationwide event known as Lights for Liberty.
The event on July 12 coincided with other events across the U.S. held, where vigils here held as part of “Lights for Liberty.”
STAFFORD COUNTY — — Residents of Marlborough Point and parts of Widewater will now have access to broadband Internet service provided by KGI Communications, LLC. The King George County-based firm is the first company to offer high-speed broadband to this area of Stafford County.

STAFFORD — The date for reopening Brooke Road to through traffic near Stagecoach Road has been moved to late September due to unforeseen problems.
Brooke Road was closed to through traffic on September 17, 2018.
They’re installing new underground pipe just outside Manassas on Thursday.

WOODBRIDGE — The desire for a Bi-County Parkway, while not widespread in Prince William, is alive and well in neighboring Loudoun County.
Loudoun leaders on June 20 approved its 2019 compressive plan, which identifies Northstar Boulevard as a new corridor that supports travel between area jurisdictions.

FREDERICKSBURG — A historic slave auction block at the corner of Charles and William Street is being relocated to the Fredericksburg Area Museum, after more than two years of an intensive dialogue between city councilmembers and citizens on the block’s future.
At the July 9 city council meeting, councilmembers and representatives of the Fredericksburg Area Museum agreed that the block would be moved to the museum, contingent on the city and the museum coming to a mutually satisfying plan for the block’s funding and future.

The security company for the business reported a male subject had entered the business unlawfully. Responding officers located the suspect asleep inside of the business and he was taken into custody.
