Triangle man dies in crash

Virginia State Police Senior Trooper C. Scally is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Fauquier County. The crash occurred Sunday, April 4th at 2:40 a.m. along Interstate 66 at the 34 mile-marker. 


Main Street America (MSA) recently announced the recipients of the Main Street Resiliency Grant Program. Nine Accredited MSA programs – including Historic Manassas, Inc. – and one Coordinating Program were awarded $8,500 to fund solutions that creatively navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On April 5 at 10:15 p.m., Deputy C.R. Szentkuti was on patrol near The Laundry Basket, at 411 Chatham Heights Road when he heard gunshots coming from behind the business.

Sergeant A.I. Assur heard the shots as well and both deputies responded to the area. Upon arrival, they observed three males exit the tree line. The suspects fled upon seeing the presence of Sheriff’s Office vehicles, according to a department spokeswoman.


The Virginia Department of Health’s Rappahannock Area Health District will expand its coronavirus vaccination efforts to Phase 2 beginning Friday, April 9, 2021. Anyone age 16 and over in Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford counties and Fredericksburg will be eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

“We are excited to expand vaccination opportunities for all community members,” said Dr. Denise Bonds, Acting Director of the Rappahannock Area Health District. “We urge all residents to take this opportunity to pre-register to receive the vaccine, as this is the fastest way to initiate the scheduling process.”


Health officials have confirmed the presence of rabies in Fredericksburg.

A stray cat that had bitten a human was confirmed positive for rabies on April 2, 2021.  The cat was collected from the 100 Block of Longstreet Avenue in Fredericksburg on March 31, 2021.


Homicide investigation *ASSISTANCE REQUESTED – Homicide detectives are asking for the community’s help identifying the suspects involved in a double shooting that occurred outside the Manassas Mall located on Sudley Rd in the Manassas area of Prince William County on April 2.

During the incident, a 34-year-old man from Baltimore, MD was killed and another 22-year-old man was injured. Video surveillance of the incident is being made publicly available in this effort to identify those responsible.
