Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Nationals continued their winning ways thanks to a late home run to take down Charleston 2-1” on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

“Offense was at a premium in game two this week, as neither team scored until the top of the sixth inning. For the Riverdogs, Marcus Johnson got the start and was extremely effective. He spun six shutout innings, while allowing just a pair of base hits. Fredericksburg got four spotless innings from Bryan Sanchez and a scoreless fifth from Juan Abreu before Charleston got on the board.”


Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “DUI: McDonalds, 545 Ferry Road, 6/6, 7:36 p.m. Deputies responded to a call of a reckless driver on Kings Highway. First Sergeant D.W. Fetterolf was able to locate the suspect vehicle, which was failing to maintain the lane of travel.

“First Sergeant Fetterolf conducted a traffic stop as Deputy M.A. Holub responded to assist. The vehicle had a smoke cloud within it, a strong odor of marijuana emanating from it, and the driver appeared under the influence. He was charged with driving under the influence, as well as, a traffic lane violation. He was held at Rappahannock Reginal Jail without bond.”


Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “[Tuesday, June 6, 2023] at 4:23 p.m. Deputy C.C. Crossett responded to a call of a fraud. The victim advised she was contacted by both Federal Trade Commission and Drug Enforcement Administration agents. The fake federal agents advised the victim’s information was fraudulently used and she needed to put her money in cryptocurrency and send it to them. The victim did a little digging on the internet and found the name of one of the “agents” was involved in a similar scam. She immediately hung up and suffered no monetary loss.”

“Closer to home, at 3:39 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates also responded to a call of a fraud, this time involving the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The victim advised she received a call from someone posing as Lieutenant D.T. Diggs. The fake Lieutenant informed the victim she did not show up for jury duty in Alexandria, and she would be charged with contempt of court. The only way to avoid going to jail would be to send $2,000 through Zelle.”


“There were three build clinics held on March 13th, April 3rd and May 1st at the Fredericksburg Elks Lodge #875 located at 11309 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. Parents and drivers were encouraged to attend a build clinic to allow one of our inspectors to look at the car and provide advice and to weigh their car. Inspection and Impound of the cars occurred on May 20th and 21tst at Brandonbilt, one of our greatest sponsors since coming to Stafford.”


City of Manassas Economic Development Department: “Get buzzing at our 3rd annual Manassas Bee Festival June 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the grounds of historic 19th century Liberia House, which will be open for self-guided tours.”

National Weather Service: “Very poor air quality today along with reduced visibility between 3-6 SM. It is recommended to limit time outdoors. Wearing a mask may help limit irritation for those suffering from respiratory illnesses. More smoke expected Thursday & Friday.”


VDOT Fredericksburg: “A new Park & Ride commuter lot in Spotsylvania County opened today at the intersection of Route 1 and Commonwealth Drive, providing nearly 700 parking spaces for ride sharing within two miles of Interstate 95.”

“With the completion of this $16.5 million project, there are now a total of 4,732 commuter parking spaces available in Spotsylvania across five Park & Ride commuter lot locations.”


Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Fredericksburg Nationals opened up their series against the Charleston Riverdogs with a 5-4 win.”

“The Riverdogs chased FredNat starter Riley Cornelio in the top of the first. Xavier Isaac and Dominic Keegan both reached base, then Carlos Colmenarez singled to load the bases. After a strikeout, Ryan Spikes singled into left field to plate Isaac, and prompted a pitching change. Jose Atencio entered, and got the last out in the first to limit the damage to just one run.”


Manassas police are searching for a man they said on Monday, June 5, 2023, was last seen walking on Interstate 95 in Spotsylvania County four months ago. The department did not respond when we asked what ties the man had to Manassas.

Manassas City Police: “The Manassas City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating David Stuart who was reported missing on Feb. 20, 2021. Stuart was last seen on Feb. 11, 2021, walking along southbound I-95 in Spotsylvania County between the Fredericksburg and Massaponax exits. Prior to his disappearance, he made remarks to friends that led them to become concerned for his wellbeing.”
