A local congressman says Washington’s police chief assures him authorities in that city won’t ticket drivers who drop off and pick up slugs on 14th Street.
Rep. Gerald E. “Gerry” Connolly, D-11th sent a letter to Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier earlier this month after reports surfaced that police officers were ticketing drivers who were picking up slugs in order to use Interstate 395 and 95’s High Occupancy Vehicle lanes. (more…)
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A veteran police officer is charged with resisting arrest in Stafford County.
Kevin Barrett, 49, was arrested at his home on Mountain View Road about 10:15 p.m. Friday, after he became confrontational with Stafford sheriff’s deputies who were called to his home for a report of a domestic dispute, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
A 30-year-old man was sitting in his car in the parking lot of a 7 Eleven, at 3623 Jeff Davis Highway near Boswell’s Corner at 2:30 a.m. Friday, waiting for a friend when a man walked up and pointed a gun at his head.
The gunman ordered the victim out of his car as and two other males who were with him looked on, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy. (more…)
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – It appears one man was frustrated with jail officials and he took it out on their cars.
A 27-year-old man who had just been released from jail sometime after 9 a.m. Friday walked out of the detention center and then jumped on top of jail officials’ cars, authorities say.
UPDATE: As of midnight Sunday, 589 Dominion Power customers in Mt. Vernon were without electricity, according to the electricity provider.
The outages affected customers on and around Buckman and Russell roads, off U.S. 1 in south Fairfax County.
If you prefer snow to sweat then you might want to stay indoors today.
Temperatures are expected to soar above 100 degrees on Saturday, and the combination of heat and humidity will make it feel like 110 degrees, according to the weather service. (more…)
NORTH STAFFORD, Va. – Three teenagers from Prince William County are charged in a North Stafford robbery.
The teens approached a man who was walking home from work at 2:28 a.m. Friday, in the area of Pinnacle Drive and Highpointe Boulevard, and two of them pulled guns, then forced the man to lay on the ground, searched him for money and took his duffle bag, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
