Everyone who waited until the last minute to buy something for their Valentine called the Enchanted Florist in North Stafford on Monday, or so it seemed.

Six college students – friends of the owners’ children – were helping to load flower arrangements onto trucks and cars and deliver them.


Historic Mount Vernon will begin offering its new tour, Mount Vernon in the Civil War, beginning April 2 at the estate grounds.

It will cover the role the mansion played during the battle, when Union troops who stormed Alexandria moved within four miles of the home, as well as the changing role of African American’s who lived at the plantation during the war.


What’s Marumsco?

Residents like the name Woodbridge, but are not too happy with a plan to call a portion of the magisterial district Marumsco. A shopping center and at least two neighborhoods in Woodbridge already bear the name.


Fire and rescue crews were called to 84 Olde Concord Road at 5:32 p.m. after someone reported smoke on the second floor of the house.

When crews arrived, they pulled attack hoses into the house, found the fire in the kitchen and doused the blaze within five minutes, said Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Mark Doyle.


Stafford, Va. –– Two Woodbridge men were busted in connection to two moonshine stills, one of them uncovered in Stafford County.

An extensive investigation involving Virginia ABC agents and Stafford sheriff’s investigators uncovered a man who provided them information about the sale of a moonshine still, its operation, and about the 196 proof alcohol it produced.
