A Stafford sheriff’s deputy was called last night to the Clarion Inn on U.S. 17 in south Stafford for a report of an attempted robbery.

The victim told the responding deputy a man walked into the hotel and asked how much it would cost to rent a room for the night, and then asked for directions to the bathroom, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
