Statistics from the Virginia Employment Commission show Stafford County grew 55 percent between the first quarter 2000 and third quarter 2010, increasing the number of jobs in the county from 23,262 to 36,121 during those 10 years.

During that same time period, Fredericksburg grew by only 9 percent, Spotsylvania County by 31 percent and King George County by 9 percent.

Stafford, Va. — A Stafford County High School principal has been named one of the county’s top educators.

Tom Nichols of North Stafford High School was selected by Stafford County Public Schools as their 2011 Principal of the Year and has also been honored by the Washington Post in their Distinguished Educational Leadership Awards.
