North Stafford, Va. –– Julie Chu says the Sake restaurant in the Doc Stone shopping plaza has been hoping with customers.

The new eatery opened in North Stafford on March 4, and since then diners have been coming in to taste some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, like the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle and Sushi made fresh inside, said Chu, a manager at the restaurant.


Area transit services will operate on a normal schedule if there is a shutdown of the federal government on Monday.

Virginia Railway Express says 35 percent of its riders are not federal employees and will continue to run trains on a regular schedule.

On Friday evening, it’s a great night for local baseball with the Potomac Nationals facing off against the Lynchburg Hillcats.  The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a replica championship ring.  If you can’t make it to Friday’s game you can catch another on Saturday night complete with fireworks.


Contract workers with the state will soon have to submit their employees to an immigration check.

A bill sponsored by Virginia State Senator George Barker (D-39) and Del. Richard Anderson (R-51) was signed into law this week, requiring all contractors working for the state to submit to an E-Verify check through the Department of Homeland Security beginning Dec. 1, 2013.
