Fire and rescue crews were called to an apartment at 1401 Providence Street, off Mine Road and Greenspring Drive, at 4:41 a.m. Sunday.

Stafford sheriff’s deputies were searching a home at 5 Catherine Way during an unrelated incident when they found what appeared to be an explosive device.
The Fire Marshals office was called to the scene, and they called Virginia State Police who removed the device and detonated it, said Stafford fire and rescue spokesman Mark Doyle.

Rappahannock Regional Jail Superintendent Joe Higgs identified the inmate as 42-year-old Brenda Lee Cochran.
