Authorities on Wednesday learned a 13-year-old girl from Stafford had sex with a 34-year-old man several times, some instances at the man’s home, over the last few months, police say.
During an investigation by the Stafford sheriff’s department, a female deputy learned about a website that the suspect used, assumed the victim’s identity and contacted the suspect.
Officials Tuesday approved the Brooke Station Urban Development Area, which will center at least 870 new homes and 174,000 square feet of office space around Virginia Railway Express’ Brooke station east of Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1).
The area will not be developed any time soon, however, county officials were mandated by the state to identify by July 1 areas in which urban growth will take place between the next 10 and 20 years.

During this week of major historic events, it seems appropriate to pause and reflect on the one constant of war – uncertainty.

This year I was the unfortunate soul to draw the short straw and serve as PTA President at my child’s elementary school. I opted to say yes to volunteering, or perhaps “volun-told” I was going to accept the position because there was no one else to take the job.
This comes after just one year at our elementary school as the parent of a Kindergartner. I hadn’t even attended all the events I would be “overseeing” as president, but went in with lofty and optimistic hopes about how the year would go. Luckily, all I ever needed to learn in life, I learned this year in PTA. Well, at least where schools are concerned.
Stafford County, Va. –– Work on the foundation phase of the Rocky Pen Run Reservoir is behind schedule. But a visit to the project site on Monday showed progress on the earthen dam and reservoir originally slated for completion in May 2013.
Stafford Utilities Department Project Manager Bryon Counsell said construction delays have been encountered on the project.
While covering an event held Monday at the historic home of George Mason, Gunston Hall, I took some time to check out the kitchen on the property.
I didn’t stay long, as it was over 90 degrees outside and the kitchen, which dates back to when the home was built, had a roaring fireplace inside.
