Stafford, Va. –– Stafford County has a new Board of Supervisors, led by Chairman Susan Stimpson and Vice Chairman Cord Sterling.

Republicans Stimpson and Sterling, who represent the Falmouth and Rockhill Districts, respectively, were appointed to their new positions by their peers on the Board Tuesday night.


North Stafford, Va. – Two studies conducted after a landslide forced residents from their homes in North Stafford late last summer both show problems dating back to before the homes were built, residents said.

Dan O’Leary, owner of a home on Brush Everard Court in Stafford’s Austin Ridge development, this fall ordered the independent studies on the land behind his home, which has been prone to landslides twice before.

Fredericksburg.com reports that a Virginia Court of Appeals judge who lives in Stafford County has decided to call it quits.

Snow, then brush fires
Patch.com reports a brief encounter with smoke from nearby brush fires slowed traffic on Interstate 95 on Wednesday afternoon, the same time snow showers were moving through the area.


Four people have tossed their name into the hat to be appointed supervisor, replacing Del. -Elect Mark Dudenhefer (R—Stafford, Woodbridge) who had served on the Board since 2006 and as Chairman since 2010.

The sitting Board is expected this month to appoint a temporary replacement for Dudenhefer, who was elected to the House of Delegates in November. The General Assembly convenes Jan. 11.
