STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Rain or shine, the cardboard boats will once again this year take to the Potomac River.

Stafford’s Rock Hill Ruitan’s Club will hold their annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Aquia Landing Park in Stafford County on Saturday, July 21. The gates open at 10 a.m., and attendees can expect to see some creative works of art that may or may not float.


NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A mother of three faces charges after a service technician found her children home alone.

The technician was working in the Sky Terrace neighborhood along Babcock Road in North Stafford, off Onville Road, when he found the three children at 4:45 p.m. A Stafford sheriff’s deputy called to the scene spoke with the children who told him they were hot and wanted to the swimming pool, said sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

STAFFORD, Va. — Governor Robert F. McDonnell is coming to Stafford to sign bills into law.

The governor will meet with Stafford Sheriff Charles E. Jett on Wednesday, July 18. While there, he will sign into law bills that increase support for public safety officials and agencies, said McDonnell spokesman Jeff Caldwell.


NORTH STAFFORD, Va.– A mens clothing shop on Va. 610 appears to be closing. Signs posted outside Sam’s Factory Outlet state “lost our lease.”
