STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that it has received a first place traffic safety award from the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office entered the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Challenge. This challenge awards law enforcement agencies for excellence in overall traffic safety enforcement, community education and low traffic fatality and accident rates.


STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind all motor vehicle operators to not drink and drive.

As part of the Sheriff’s Office Survive The Drive campaign extra deputies will be out on the road from Aug. 15 – Sept. 3 participating in Checkpoint Strike Force, focusing on strict impaired driving enforcement.


STAFFORD, Va. – Voluntary outdoor water restrictions remain in effect for Stafford County. Because of the lack of significant rainfall, water demand is challenging the county’s capacity to treat and distribute water.

As a continued precautionary measure, officials are asking all water customers to voluntarily discontinue outdoor water usage. If it is necessary to water bushes, flowers, and other plantings, customers are asked to please use buckets of water to do so.


STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The Stafford Democratic Committee will hold their “Blue Country Swing” picnic where Democrats will gather on Sat., Aug. 18 from 4 to 8 pm, to hear candidates and get organized for the fall election.

The picnic is at the North Snowden Farm in southeast Stafford County, 1465 King’s Hwy, Fredericksburg VA 22405. The farm is the lifelong home of Stafford native Bobby Crisp, wife of former Democratic supervisor Harry Crisp. The Crisps have lived at the home most of their married life and raised their children there.


NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Add seafood restaurant Marlin and Rays in North Stafford to the list of places celebrating Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. More from the eatery in a press release:

On Sunday, August 12th, Stafford’s premier landlocked seafood spot, Marlin & Ray’s Seafood Bar & Grill, kicked off a week-long celebration in honor of the ever popular Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. Featuring a bevy of drink specials, including $2 Landshark Bottles, $3 Bloody Mary’s, and $4 Survivor Punch (non-alcoholic), the seafood restaurant will also invite diners to dock at the bar for an entire evening of Shark Week programming. Blue shark fin ice cubes will also be available for kids drinks.


STAFFORD, Va. – The Mobile Vet Center Program’s mobile unit will make a return trip to Stafford County on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. The Mobile Vet Center, based in Richmond, brings services to veterans who might otherwise have to go to Richmond or Washington, D.C.

The unit will be in Stafford from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554.
