PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The region awoke to one of the coldest mornings in years, with temperatures in the low to mid teens and wind chill factors making feel like zero degrees outside.

By 10 a.m. temperatures had climbed to the low 20s, and they are not expected to rise much higher than that. Tonight, a clipper system could bring a dusting of snow our way, according to the National Weather Service. With arctic air overhead, whatever falls is expected to freeze and could cause slippery conditions into Thursday morning.


STAFFORD, Va. — Stafford County leaders today threw their support behind Gwyneth’s Law, a bill that would require schools to provide training in first aid, CPR, and the us of automated external defibrillators, or AEDs.

The law is named after 12-year-old Gwyneth Griffin who collapsed while running track at Stafford County’s A.G. Wright Middle School and then later died. Griffen’s father, Joel, told Fredericksburg.com no one at the school was able to care for his daughter following her collapse.


STAFFORD, Va. — Stafford County has a new leader for its Parks and Recreation Department.

Jamie Porter was announced as the county’s new leader following a department move from former Director Chris Hoppe who left the parks department last year to become Stafford County’s Capital Improvement Program Manager.

A Maryland woman was killed Tuesday morning (Jan. 22) in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Fairfax County. The crash occurred at 7:12 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 less than a mile from Route 286/Fairfax County Parkway.
