MANASSAS, Va. — Richard D. Sword and Gerry L. Sword, two brothers who were both facing murder charges after the burned body of Manassas resident Anthony Bailey was found in early November in Old Town Manassas, saw those charges dropped today.

RICHMOND, Va. – Gov. Bob McDonnell expressed his disgust after his transportation funding package was derailed by Senate Democrats late Tuesday.


Beginning in August, the U.S. Postal Service expects to start saving $2 billion each year when they eliminate Saturday delivery service. Starting August 5, all regular mail will be delivered Monday through Friday only. Packages and mail addressed to PO boxes will continue to be delivered on Saturdays.

STAFFORD, Va. — The most important decision made at a meeting of Stafford County officials Tuesday was not to meet.

An evening session of the county’s Board of Supervisors was canceled. The only item of business was a public hearing set to hear from residents and businesses who wanted to weigh in on proposed road impact fees — monies developers would have to pay to improve county roads. The fees are based on the projected growth of the county and anticipated traffic congestion over the next 20 years.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William County has a new police chief, and he’s a veteran of the police force.

Major Stephan M. Hudson was appointed the county’s top cop today following a nationwide search for a replacement for long-serving Charlie T. Deane.


STAFFORD, Va. — A dedicated emergency dispatcher and call center trainer in Stafford County has died after a long battle with cancer.

Nicholas E. Stepaniak, 31, died Saturday at his home in Spotsylvania County.
