DUMFRIES, Va. — Children in Dumfries will soon have a free ride to after-school activities. But how long that service lasts will depend upon how much the town and the community buy into the new transportation program.
The Prince William County / Manassas Boys and Girls Club has agreed to provide a trial bus service that will pick up children each afternoon and take them to the General Heiser Club on Old Stage Coach Road. The bus service will begin April 2, run the Tuesday through Friday afternoons, and will be able to take as many as 14 children per bus, twice a day — once at 4:30 p.m. and again at 5 o’clock — from Ginn Memorial Park on Graham Park Road to the General Heiser Club.

Three hundred plus Gainesville District citizens attended a Town Hall meeting Mar. 4 organized by Gainesville Supervisor Pete Candland and Delegate Tim Hugo to discuss the Bi-County Corridor with VDOT and elected representatives.
So the boss calls me up at 8 a.m. and asks “Where are my snow pictures, I need snow pictures?!”
I couldn’t resist taking my new all wheel drive Subaru out in the snow for the first time. The main roads have been kept clear for the most part. I stopped and talked with a couple of drivers of snow plow vehicles. They said they have been out since 10 p.m. Tuesday treating the roads.

The first significant snowstorm of this winter season is forecast to bring at least four to six inches of snow portions of Prince William and Stafford counties, and the Greater Manassas areas.
MANASSAS, Va. — We’re already beginning to see the effects of the approaching winter storm as Manassas has declared a snow emergency starting at 8 p.m.
This means cars parked along snow emergency routes will be towed. Here’s a list of affected streets:
Prince William County Schools may have to revise its budget for FY14, since the county has reduced its average tax bill from what was presented by county staff, and the Virginia General Assembly is deliberating on even deeper budget cuts.
