On Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. join the Manassas City Police Department, the Prince William County Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in preventing pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. In Manassas, residents can participate at Prince William Hospital, 8700 Sudley Road. Other locations include Heathcote Health Center in Haymarket and Sentara Lake Ridge in Woodbridge. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Toastmasters International District 29 will host its annual Spring Conference on May 3 and 4 at the Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes, Virginia. The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) is holding a free business seminar and luncheon for employers in Prince William County on April 24, 2013. The seminar — entitled “Financing Commuting Programs with Federal Tax Benefits and Other Incentives” — is being offered as part of PRTC’s Omni SmartCommute Program. George Mason University is hosting the event at its Prince William Campus in Manassas.


WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Woodbridge man faces charges of assault and battery after a woman was beat up at a party.

It happened Friday night when the 25-year-old victim told police she was at a home in the 3300 block of Blazer Loop in Woodbridge she got into an argument with the person she came to the gathering with. That argument escalated and she was then forced into a bathroom where she was assaulted by the acquaintance, according to a police report.


The days of the corner drugstore and soda fountain may be long gone, but the independent pharmacy is alive and well in North Stafford.

MANASSAS, Va. — On Saturday May 4, Crossroads Realty, PWC Entertainment and other area vendors will hold a special concert at the Olde Town Sports Pub. The Rock Show, a Journey tribute band, and the Rick Sickman Band will play hits songs from the 1980s. Proceeds from the show will go to benefit Operation Renewed Hope an organization that helps homeless veterans.
