DUMFRIES, Va. — Brian Gudmundson rode his bike to work on Friday.

It was Bike to Work Day in the Washington area, and he rode his all the way from Frederickburg to his office at Quantico. Along the way, he rode into a rest stop at the Dumfries Community Center next to Town Hall where water, snacks, and goodies like free “Bike to Work” t-shirts and water bottles were waiting for him.


LAKE RIDGE, Va. — The community came together in Lake Ridge to make this year’s Taste of Lake Ridge a successful event.

Held last week at the Tall Oaks Community Center at the intersection of Hedges Run and Cotton Mill drives, the afternoon festival welcomed residents who were able to sample foods from 10 area restaurants.


MANASSAS, Va. –– Comcast will move 80 call center jobs away from Manassas in a consolidation of the cable company’s regional operations.

The jobs will move to two other Comcast call centers in Maryland, one in Silver Spring and the other in White Marsh. The move will take effect September 7, and those employees impacted by the change currently answer Comcast customers’ questions about billing and adding new services.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The woman behind the wheel of a black sedan that slammed into Lisa Bell’s home on Dale Boulevard this evening had a kitten inside her car and became distracted, said Bell. The car left a hole in the brick home of the Prince William County School Board Member, and police and fire and rescue crews were called to the scene.
