QUANTICO, Va. — Want to run your own coffee shop and sell train tickets? There may be an opportunity for you at the Quantico Virginia Railway Express station. The commuter railroad wants to talk to interested people about setting up shop at the train station that sits just outside the “crossroads of the Marine Corps.”

VRE is looking for a company to run a full-service coffee shop, offer food, sell train tickets, and maintain the restrooms, between 5 and 9:30 a.m., and between 3 and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays when the trains don’t run.

DUMFRIES, Va. — Police say an arranged meeting between a man and a woman at a Dumfries hotel room led to an armed robbery.

The 23-year-old female victim in the case told police she arranged to meet a man she didn’t know at a Comfort Inn on Old Stage Coach Road. Police were called there at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday.

My roommate, Leyla and I enjoy eating similar things. This makes both of our lives easier, as we can share food and alternate cooking meals (she’s an exceptional sharer).

Last week, Leyla shared with me that she was planning to take the 10-day “Real Food Pledge.”  Since it sounded like something I would be on board with, I immediately said, “Oh, I’ll do that too.” I wasn’t too sure what exactly I just signed up for, but I’m always up for a healthy dietary challenge. I’m currently on day four.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 39-year-old library in Woodbridge will soon feel as if it’s brand new.

A newly constructed patio will open at the Potomac Library on Saturday. Residents have been invited to gather with officials from the Prince William County Public Library System and elected leaders to cut the ribbon for the new terrace Saturday at 10 a.m.

The penalties for drinking and driving or texting and driving will change Monday, July 1.

Currently, texting while driving is considered a secondary offense, meaning the offender must be stopped for another, separate offense in order to be charged for texting and driving. Under the new law, it will become a primary offense, allowing police to stop drivers suspected of texting or reading text messages while driving.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Dr. Randy Bridges is fairly out and William C. Symons, Jr. is fairly in.

Symons was selected as the interim superintendent for Stafford County Public Schools this week. The selection comes as Bridges announced he would leave the school system to return home to his native North Carolina on July 31.
