I cheated. I may have splurged on some ice cream.  And, possibly some chips. Forgive me, readers, I had company visiting. 

While I could have offered them ants on a log and carrot sticks as an afternoon snack, I knew that such healthy appetizers are not “special occasion food,” particularly for those who are not willingly participating in the unprocessed food challenge. So, even though I didn’t complete a flawless 10 day “real food” stint, the experience still gave me some food for thought (look I made a pun).

DUMFRIES, Va. — Dumfries officials are playing a game of wait and see when it comes to the living arrangements of Councilman Derrick Wood.

The freshman council member was forced to move out of his rented Williamstown townhome in mid June when the owner sold it. Wood told Potomac Local News last week, as well as Dumfries officials, he hopes to reestablish residency in the town by July 9.


MANASSAS, Va. — A woman was cut from a car after a four-car pile up tonight in Manassas, according to a witness on the scene.

It happened near the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Liberia Avenue just after 11 p.m. All four cars appeared to have been involved in a rear-end collision, witnesses said.


I thought I would be all alone seeing “The Lone Ranger” at 8:45 this morning. Gee willikers, was I ever wrong.

A packed theater and I saw Director Gore Verbinski’s (The Pirates of the Caribbean) take on the 1930s icon of American Justice. Since the story comes with its own catch phrases and kooky sidekick, this seemed like a perfect fit.


STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The 4th of July will be celebrated at Pratt Park in southern Stafford County this year.

Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m., and the festival will include the Quantico Marine Corps Band, the University of Mary Washington’s Philharmonic, and the cast of Les Miserables at the Riverside Center. It’ll also feature music, food, and children’s games.
